About me

Hi there, my name’s Celina and I’m a fully qualified counsellor with extensive experience helping people who are struggling with anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, as well as many of life’s other challenges which cause distress. I have a special interest and in-depth training in bereavement and traumatic loss, having found that loss is quite often at the heart of many of the difficulties we face in life.

Through my own personal experience, as well as working with those bereaved and also training bereavement volunteers for Cruse Bereavement Support for many years, I fully understand that bereavement is one of the worst experiences that we will ever have to face. I also know how hard it can feel to reach out and ask for help so it’s great that you are here and taking that tentative first step.

Working together, I will provide you with a warm, welcoming and safe environment in which we can explore any difficult thoughts and feelings that are coming up for you. Counselling offers a means to make sense of those difficulties and to feel heard. I am committed to helping you make more sense of those feelings and will support you in making connections and gaining a deeper understanding of your experiences, both past and present, so that you can find a way forward that is right for you.

As a trained listener, I will ensure that your voice and story are heard and validated, without any judgment. Grief and many other struggles can often feel very messy and complicated, like a tangled ball of wool, and trying to navigate our way through them can feel painfully daunting and overwhelming- I will be alongside you, offering you a confidential space and helping you to unravel that tangled ball of mess safely so that you can gain new perspectives and find a way to bring about change.

Having a Person-Centred approach, I also incorporate other theoretical interventions which can help you to identify, and better understand, any underlying difficulties or issues and empower you to make any necessary changes which will help improve your life and wellbeing.

Alongside bereavement and loss, I also have vast experience supporting those facing anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, suicidal thoughts, relationship or family issues, work-related stress, OCD, health concerns, sexual assault, menopause and any other difficulties you’d like to explore.

I offer an initial free 30-minute Zoom or telephone session so that we can talk through any difficulties that you are facing and discuss what your hopes are for counselling. If we both feel that we are a good fit then I can offer ongoing short, medium or long-term therapeutic support, either face-to-face in a counselling room in the centre of Street or by Zoom/ telephone.

Please know that you are not alone in how you feel and don’t hesitate to contact me if you feel that I can be of help, thank you.

Training, qualifications & experience

As well as being a qualified Counsellor, I have been a Trainer for Cruse Bereavement Support for many years, writing training courses/ webinars for National Cruse and training hundreds of volunteers who have gone on to provide support for bereaved adults and children. I have also worked for a Cancer Counselling Charity for a number of years, providing counselling to those living with, and beyond, cancer and also to those bereaved or affected by cancer in any way.

I am a Registered Member of the BACP (British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy), valuing and abiding by their Code of Ethics thus ensuring I work safely, and in your best interests, at all times. I am committed to non-discriminatory practice and welcome diversity.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
