About me

I am a Registered BACP counsellor with fifteen years of experience in therapeutic counselling, NLP, coaching, and currently completing further training in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy. I offer fifty minute sessions at a frequency to suit you on Zoom, Teams or Telephone and I have a limited number of face to face appointments each week for those who would prefer to meet in person and can get to the Bradford on Avon area. I work in person centred way using a relational approach to counselling, or for those looking for more targeted solution-focused therapy I can offer twelve to twenty sessions of CBT for anxiety, panic and low mood.

I have many years of experience working with adults, young people and children from the age of twelve upwards. I offer a warm, facilitated space for people to explore their experiences in a confidential and non judgemental, interactive way. Issues I can support with include depression or low mood, anxiety, panic, anger, loss and grief, pain, feelings of loneliness or isolation, career or relationship challenges or changes, parenthood or family issues.

In our first session, we will explore what brings you to seek support at this time and what you would like to achieve from therapy. We can then discuss the most appropriate approach for you, talking therapy, cognitive behavioural therapy, a blended approach or coaching.

Training, qualifications & experience

I qualified with a Diploma in therapeutic counselling using an integrated person centred approach with Leeds Beckett University fifteen years ago. I have worked in many settings including a crisis centre, women's refuge, domestic abuse support agency, primary school, employee assistance programme and youth centre, as well as several agencies offering counselling on site and as outreach in community settings. I have an NLP Practitioner and Contemporary Psychotherapy Foundation and a Diploma in Counselling Young People aged 8-18. I am a qualified coach with a Diploma in NLP Coaching. I have a Post Graduate Certificate in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and am currently studying for a Post Graduate Diploma with Oxford University and Accreditation in CBT with BABCP.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
