About me
Hi, I'm Cat, welcome to Clear Quartz Counselling & Holistic Wellbeing. I work in-person and online in private practice with children, teens and adults, and I'm an experienced, neuro-affirming, integrative Counsellor, LI-CBT Psychotherapist and Attachment Specialist.
I’ve provided therapeutic support to both children aged 6+ and adults for over twenty years. My professional background encompasses a variety of roles, including family support, youth justice, public health, prisons, NHS Talking Therapies and most recently, as a CYP therapist for a CAMHS commissioned service.
During my time working within NHS Talking Therapies, I frequently witnessed the frustrations of clients seeking greater connection, more time to process, and deeper therapeutic engagement than the existing model could offer. These experiences inspired me to create a private practice where therapy is tailored to you, allowing us to work at your pace and focus on what truly matters in your life.
I recognise the significance of having someone trustworthy to confide in when faced with the difficulties of everyday life. I also appreciate how daunting it can be to take that first step towards counselling. Throughout our lives, most of us encounter challenges such as stress, anxiety, grief, depression, work and financial concerns, family and relationship issues, isolation, and loneliness, among others.
At times, we may find ourselves in circumstances that feel insurmountable or experience a sense of being stuck, unsure how to move forward. Life can become overwhelming, challenging, or even frightening, and it is not always possible or easy to discuss these concerns with family or friends.
I offer a confidential, non-judgemental environment where you can safely explore difficult thoughts, emotions, and behaviours. With empathy, warmth, and compassion, I will support you as you process challenging feelings and navigate everyday struggles, helping you to find clarity and understanding.
Through this journey, you will gain deeper insight into your own authenticity, self-knowledge, and self-awareness, paving the way for inner change, personal growth, and a deeper understanding of self.
Training, qualifications & experience
As a qualified, BACP registered counsellor, I adhere to the BACP’s Ethical Framework, placing your safety and wellbeing at the heart of my practice.
Working creatively and integratively allows me to draw from a broad range of knowledge and techniques from psychotherapy, attachment theory, health coaching and alternative therapies. I tailor my approach according to your personal preferences and therapy objectives. Notably, combining person-centred methods with CBT creates a highly effective and collaborative therapeutic experience, blending both non-directive and directive styles. This supports your individual needs and acknowledges you as the expert in your own life, whilst also offering practical, goal-oriented tools and techniques.
My therapy room is a fully accessible and non-judgemental environment, where warmth, openness, authenticity and compassion are prioritised. I am here to facilitate your journey, helping you uncover your true self, sense of purpose, and direction.
Through our work together, you’ll have the opportunity to gain new and more meaningful perspective on your life story, moving towards discovering and fulfilling your potential by aligning your life with what matters to you.

Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

I recently worked as a CYP therapist within a CAMHS-commissioned service, providing solution-focused, low intensity CBT to young people aged 6+, experiencing common mental health difficulties, including Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD), Depression, Generalised Anxiety Disorder (GAD), Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), Phobias, Social Anxiety, and Panic Disorder. I left this role to focus on my private practice.
I have recently qualified as an Attachment Specialist and am passionate about supporting clients to safely explore their early relational experiences and understand their attachment traits and defences, facilitating the development of earned security and their journey towards secure future attachments.
I'm keen to integrate mindfulness-based approaches into my work, such as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT), as well as grounding, breathing exercises and journaling for greater self awareness and insight.
From a holistic and spiritual perspective, I'm a Reiki Master and can incorporate creative elements like working with crystals, oracle cards, the elements, seasonal cycles, and moon phases to help explore alternative perspectives. This can be woven into your therapy if you wish, based on your preferences.

Further information
I offer a complementary 15-minute introductory call, which is an opportunity to get to know each other, to explore what you'd like to focus on in therapy, to answer any questions you may have and to share some information on how our sessions may look and feel, to ensure I'm the right therapist for you.
Our first session will begin with an assessment, where we will explore your current circumstances and any events—past or present—that have led you to seek counselling at this time. Together, we will clarify what you would like to gain from our sessions, helping to shape the direction of our work moving forward.
We'll explore whether you'd like to incorporate holistic, creative or spiritual tools in our work, or whether you'd prefer a traditional therapeutic approach.
We may complete routine outcome measure questionnaires to highlight specific areas you might want to focus on. Drawing from my experience in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Solution Focused Therapy, I can support you with goal setting, using CBT formulation. Alternatively, if you prefer a non-directive approach, I can work integratively and at a gentler pace to suit your needs.
Depending on your preferences, psychoeducation may be a key component of our sessions, supporting the development of neuroplasticity—the brain’s ability to learn and adapt. My objective is for you to leave sessions feeling equipped and confident to use the techniques and tools we discuss, supporting your mental wellbeing long term. Psychoeducational materials may include handouts, worksheets, audio files and journal prompts, all designed to encourage therapeutic change.
I offer a flexible approach to how often and how many sessions you attend, with both short-term and long-term counselling available, depending on what suits you best. Sessions can be scheduled weekly, fortnightly, or monthly, usually at the same day and time. We will regularly review our sessions, reflecting on your therapeutic goals and acknowledging the progress and changes you have achieved.
After our work together has come to a close, I also offer the option to book in for ad-hoc sessions as and when needed. Clients share that they find this helpful, especially if they have difficult situations or new life challenges to navigate.
