MBACP | Person Centred Counsellor

About me

Hi, I'm Catherine. I know how overwhelming it can feel trying to choose a counsellor from a long list of profiles. Everything can start to blur together, and it’s hard to know what will actually feel right.

The way I work is simple and human.

I won’t analyse you, diagnose you or tell you what you “should” do. Instead, I offer a consistent and supportive relationship where you can talk openly and be met with honesty, care and attention.

People often come to counselling when things feel stuck, tangled or uncertain. We can take time to gently untangle things together, at a pace that feels manageable for you.

People come to me with things like:

  • Anxiety or constant overthinking
  • Feeling low, flat or disconnected
  • Self-doubt or low self-worth
  • Relationship difficulties or patterns that keep repeating
  • Bereavement or loss
  • Life changes that feel unsettling
  • A general sense of feeling stuck or overwhelmed

You don’t need to have a clear reason. Sometimes it’s just a feeling that something needs attention.

Sometimes life feels full, confusing or heavier than you can carry on your own. You might not have the words for it yet, just a sense that something isn’t quite right or that you’re not feeling like yourself.

Counselling can be a space to slow things down a little and make sense of what’s going on, without pressure to be any different to how you are right now.

I work with adults from all walks of life and welcome whatever you bring. You don’t have to have everything figured out before reaching out.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
