About me

If you’re reading this, there’s a good chance something in your life feels a bit off, overwhelming, or just not how you want it to be, even if you can’t quite explain why yet.

That’s usually where we start.

👋 About Me
Hi, I’m Catherine.

I’m a BACP-registered  therapist offering a calm, down-to-earth space where you can talk things through at your own pace.

I don’t use lots of big words or expect you to arrive with a perfectly worded explanation of what’s going on. Most people don’t, and that’s completely fine.

You can come as you are, whether that’s clear, confused, overwhelmed, or thinking, “I don’t even know where to start.” We’ll figure that out together.

People often tell me they feel comfortable quickly, which I think comes from keeping things simple, human, and free from any pressure to “get it right.”

💬 What I Can Help With
You might be feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or just not quite yourself. I often work with people experiencing:

Anxiety and constant overthinking
Burnout (feeling exhausted but still pushing through)
Relationship difficulties
Low self-esteem or a strong inner critic
Difficult past experiences that still affect you
Feeling lost or unsure about direction in life
You don’t need a label or a perfect explanation, if it’s bothering you, it’s worth talking about.

🔍 My Approach
I draw from different approaches and theories depending on what suits you best.

But more importantly, I focus on creating a space where you feel able to be real. Therapy with me isn’t about being analysed or having to say clever things, it’s about gently making sense of things together.

I’ll listen carefully, reflect things back, and sometimes ask the kind of questions that make you pause (in a helpful way, not an uncomfortable spotlight way).

And while therapy can be intense, there may be tears, anger, laughter, all is welcome in my therapy room.

💡 What to Expect
A calm, private, purpose-built therapy room in Wokingham
Online sessions if you prefer your own sofa and a cup of tea
A relaxed, non-judgemental environment
Honest, straightforward conversations
Space to be yourself, even on the days you feel a bit all over the place
(And yes, off-road parking is available, which tends to be more exciting than it should be.)

❤️ Client Feedback
“You were with me every step of the way. I didn’t feel so alone.”
“I was helped to understand who I was and even began to like that person.”
“I can’t believe I waited so long. I feel more myself, and it’s had a positive effect on the people around me.”

📅 Getting Started
Reaching out can feel like a big step, especially if you’re not sure what to expect. Whether this is your first time seeking support or you're returning to therapy, I welcome you just as you are. I offer both online and in-person sessions from my therapy room in Wokingham, Berkshire. If you’re ready to start this journey, or just want to see if we’re a good fit, let's chat. No pressure, just a friendly conversation that genuinely cares about what you need.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Areas of counselling I deal with

Other areas of counselling I deal with

I have experience with neurodiverse clients where I am happy to tailor make our sessions to meet your needs e.g. consider lighting and introduce play-based techniques.  Contact me to discuss.

I also have personal experience with autoimmune diagnoses and how difficult that journey can be to navigate.  Should you need support with a chronic illness, I can provide a real understanding with positive and practical ways to help you manage, but most importantly, focus you on achieving your goals.
