About me

Are you feeling overwhelmed, anxious, always have a nagging feeling that you’ve done something wrong or feel like you are forever making the same mistakes? This may be due to low self esteem, family issues, ADHD, anxiety or stress.  Most of us feel overwhelmed when we bottle up our problems. I am a firm believer that we are all just humans doing the best we can with the tools we have.

Sometimes we need some help figuring out how we want to navigate our next steps and what we need to do to reach our goals. I’m a non-judgemental, unbiased professional who can help you to do this.

I offer affordable counselling online via 'Whereby' video call, WhatsApp video call or over the phone. Please feel free to phone me or email me to arrange a free informal chat and to answer any questions you may have about how I can help you.

I also offer face to face counselling in Gillingham on a Tuesday

Training, qualifications & experience

I have experience working for the NHS, a local Children's Centre (with parents) and in my own Private Practice supporting adults both long and short term. I worked for many years in a school setting as a Teaching assistant, SENCO and supporting parents of children with special needs. I also work for a charity which supports people in the construction industry.

I  have personal experience as a single parent and caring for a family member with a brain injury.

I am an accredited member of the BACP which is a quality standard for experienced practitioners to recognise their capacity for independent, ethical and competent practice

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

I work online or over the telephone. I find that this helps to keep my costs down meaning I can charge affordable fees.  Working remotely can also be helpful for people who lead busy lives. This is especially helpful if you are feeling overwhelmed or anxious and prefer the comfort of your own familiar surroundings.
