About me
Same thoughts looping around in your head, constantly making you feel exhausted? Feeling like no one can really hear you, because everyone just thinks you're fine, yet you're screaming inside and hoping someone will notice? Finding everyday tasks hard to complete due to worry, sadness or just not knowing your direction in life? Limited by the feeling you're never good enough, that you always have to be a certain way to be acceptable? Navigating who you are in the world and where you fit in?
Therapy isn't limited to these feelings, they're just some examples. Therapy offers a dedicated time and space to be with your feelings and to begin to make some sense of what's going on for you. Working with a therapist means you're not facing this alone. Finding someone who will understand and accept you, feeling exactly as you do right now.
Maybe this profile reads a bit backwards, but the work I do is about you. You matter to me. Plenty of research suggests that finding a therapist who you feel comfortable talking to, who gets you, who enables you to feel heard and understood, is the most important factor. If you think I might be the person you'd like to work with...please take a look at my website for more details, get in touch, and let's say hello.
And now let me introduce myself. Hi, I'm Catherine. Therapist, but also a fellow human doing my best to navigate life in all it's wonder and complexity.
I offer in-person sessions from my private practice space in Dersingham (Norfolk), online and by phone across the UK. Sessions are 60 minutes and usually weekly. I work with adults 18+.
Training, qualifications & experience
I have a Post Graduate Diploma in Person-centred counselling and am a registered member of the BACP.
Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Fees

Additional information
I offer an initial introductory session which is 20 minutes and charged at £15. This session is for us to meet each other and talk about what's brought you to consider therapy, and for us to see if working together feels right for both of us.
Further information
If you get in touch, we'll arrange a 20 minute introductory session online. You can tell me what's brought you here and we can go through the client agreement information, so you are clear about the terms of therapy. I will explain how I work. This session is £15 and you aren't committed to anything at the end of it. You can take the time you need to decided if you'd like to go ahead with therapy.
If we decide to work together, we will book a session for you which will normally be the same time each week. I offer short-term and long-term work (and it's ok to not know what you want at the start!). I'll ask you to complete a short client information form and will send you my therapy agreement information which has all the details you'll need. If you have any questions at any point in the process, please ask.
I aim to work inclusively, working with any needs or requirements you may have in terms of accessing therapy sessions.
