About me

Limited Mon afternoon/Sat morning sessions left!

Hi, I’m Carrie, an experienced and registered counsellor and I’m here to help you live your best life :) If you're looking for a space to offload your troubles, to be totally honest about how you're feeling and what's causing stress, anxiety, depression in your life, then I'm glad you've landed on my profile :)

There’s no shame in finding life hard, to want to make changes but being totally overwhelmed with where to start. My approach is rooted in trust, empathy and a space that’s entirely yours. Sessions can be focused and goal based or a place to say whatever is on your mind. We can talk for the entire session or work creatively. The choice and direction of our work is led by you.

I bring experience with anxiety, stress, depression, trauma, ADHD, Autism, and many other things and I can promise you, in counselling, there is no such thing as a problem that's too big or too small so why not come and give it a go.

Training, qualifications & experience

I have worked with clients from ages 11 to 60 and worked with them on a whole range of issues. I offer counselling tailored to the individual. We work at your pace and in the way that works best for you. I aim to build a strong, open, trusting relationship with all clients as that is the best tool for positive change. We work as a team!

I'm an accredited member of BACP, I hold a Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling and I've undertaken training at a Level 2 in Children and Young People's mental health and in Understanding Autism. Neurodivergence is an area of continued training and research for me and I am passionate about offering a neurodiverse affirming practice for all. I will quite often be found engrossed in a book as there's always more to learn!

I’ve been a facilitator for online groups focused on managing anxiety and I’m now undertaking therapeutic mentoring with young people who are struggling.

I am seeing an increase in clients with social anxiety and feeling sad. Believe it or not, there isn’t a minimum level of sad or worried that you need to be before you seek support! Sometimes things just don’t feel right, you might not even know why, but that can be a great time to engage in counselling.

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
