About me
I am a Consultant Child and Adolescent Psychotherapist with over 25 years of NHS experience supporting children, young people, and families.
I am an ACP-registered Child and Adolescent Psychotherapist – supporting children, young people and parents in Sheffield and online.
I specialise in working with children, young people and parents who may be facing challenges such as anxiety, ADHD, autism and wider neurodiversity. Many of the families I meet are struggling with emotion regulation, family issues or the impact of trauma, and are looking for a safe space where both they and their children can feel more understood and supported.
My career began in teaching, where I developed a deep interest in how children learn, relate to others, and express themselves. That early experience inspired me to retrain in psychotherapy so that I could work more closely with children’s emotional and developmental needs.
I have over two decades of experience working in the NHS and in independent practice. My training is the only NHS-funded programme in the UK dedicated to child mental health, equipping me to work in depth with complex and long-standing difficulties.
I see clients face to face in Sheffield, offering a supportive, comfortable and home-like space where children and young people can develop resilience and healthier ways of managing emotions. I also work with parents, helping them to better understand their child’s needs and to feel more confident in how to respond. I also work online if more convenient for you.
In my work, I take a thoughtful and relational approach, creating a safe therapeutic space where children and young people can express themselves in ways that feel natural to them – whether through talking, play, or creative exploration. Children often communicate their worries and struggles through behaviour, play, or silence rather than words. I offer a calm space where these feelings can be explored at the child’s pace, whether through talking, creative play, drawing, or simply being alongside them in a way that feels manageable.
I listen carefully not just to what children say, but to how they show their feelings. Together, we can make sense of difficult emotions and experiences so that children and families feel more understood and supported.
