About me

Choosing a counsellor can feel like a big step, and it’s important to find someone you feel comfortable with - someone you can trust to listen, understand, and support you without judgement.

I am an Integrative Counsellor, which means I believe therapy should be as individual as you are. There is no single “right” way to approach counselling, because every person comes with their own experiences, challenges, and hopes for change. My role is to offer a safe, compassionate space where we can explore what is happening for you and work together in a way that feels supportive, meaningful, and manageable.

At the heart of my work is the belief that counselling should be a place where you can pause, breathe, and focus on yourself - perhaps for the first time in a long while. Whether you are feeling anxious, overwhelmed, stuck in difficult patterns, navigating relationship challenges, processing past experiences, or simply feeling unsure of your next steps, therapy can help you begin to make sense of what’s happening beneath the surface.

I have worked with a wide variety of issues and backgrounds, including anxiety, depression, work-related matters, bereavement, illness, caring responsibilities, trauma, parenting issues, family dynamics, peri-menopause/menopause, relationships, separation/divorce, abuse, suicide and self-harm prevention.

I hold an FdSc in Integrative Counselling Practice (Distinction) and am committed to ongoing professional development, regularly updating my knowledge and attending supervision in line with British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) requirements.

My Approach

My approach is collaborative, compassionate, and tailored to you.  As an integrative counsellor, I draw from a range of therapeutic approaches, including:

Person-centred therapy – offering a warm, accepting space where you can feel truly heard and understood.
Psychodynamic therapy – helping you explore how past experiences and unconscious patterns may be shaping your present.
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) – identifying and challenging unhelpful thought patterns and behaviours.
Mindfulness-based approaches – supporting emotional regulation, grounding, and greater awareness of the connection between mind and body.

Together, we can explore what is happening for you, identify what you need from therapy, and work at a pace that feels safe and manageable. I recognise that you are the expert in your own life - my role is not to tell you what to do, but to walk alongside you with curiosity, compassion, and professional support.

Alongside therapeutic exploration, I also provide psychoeducation, helping you understand how your mind and body respond to stress, trauma, relationships, and life experiences. Gaining insight into patterns such as anxiety, attachment, emotional regulation, and the impact of past experiences can often be an empowering part of counselling - helping you make sense of what you are experiencing and supporting lasting change.

 What’s In This For You?
Counselling offers dedicated time and space to focus on yourself.  It can help you to:

  • Feel truly heard and understood, without fear of judgement
  • Explore difficult thoughts, feelings, or experiences safely
  • Gain clarity about what may be contributing to your struggles
  • Better understand patterns in your emotions, relationships, and behaviours
  • Learn how your mind and body respond to stress and emotional challenges
  • Build greater self-awareness, self-compassion, and resilience
  • Begin moving towards the life you want, rather than simply coping with the one you have

With support, you may begin to:

  • Understand your emotional responses more clearly
  • Develop healthier ways of coping with stress, anxiety, or low mood
  • Communicate more confidently and assertively
  • Set and maintain healthier boundaries
  • Identify and challenge unhelpful thoughts or behaviours
  • Make decisions that align with your values, rather than your fears
  • Feel more empowered and in control of your own story

How Counselling Might Improve Your Life
Therapy can help you make sense of your past and present, and support meaningful and lasting change in many areas of life, including:

Emotional Wellbeing
Helping you feel more balanced, grounded, and resilient in the face of life’s challenges.

Relationships
Deepening your understanding of yourself and others, improving communication, and fostering healthier, more fulfilling connections.

Confidence & Self-Trust
Empowering you to trust your own judgement, honour your needs, and move forward with greater clarity.

Everyday Life
Helping you respond to stress, uncertainty, and change with greater calm, confidence, and self-awareness.

 Taking the First Step
You don’t need to have everything figured out before beginning counselling.
You don’t need all the answers - just a willingness to start.

Beginning therapy can feel daunting, but it can also be the beginning of something deeply important: a chance to better understand yourself, heal old wounds, and create meaningful change.

I’m here to walk alongside you as you explore, reflect, and discover your own way forward.

Training, qualifications & experience

I hold an FdSc in Integrative Counselling Practice (Distinction) and bring experience of working with clients from a wide range of backgrounds, each with their own unique challenges, stories, and strengths.

I have supported people navigating many different difficulties, including anxiety, depression, work-related stress, bereavement, illness, caring responsibilities, trauma, parenting challenges, family dynamics, relationship difficulties, separation and divorce, abuse, and suicide and self-harm prevention.

Alongside broad therapeutic experience, I have significant understanding of work-related issues - including stress, burnout, workplace relationships, difficult management dynamics, career uncertainty, and the impact that professional pressures can have on emotional wellbeing and identity.

I also work gently and compassionately with trauma, recognising that difficult experiences can affect us in ways that are not always immediately visible or easy to understand. My approach is grounded in creating a safe, supportive space where you can explore your experiences at your own pace, without pressure or judgement.

Above all, I believe that counselling is about more than managing symptoms - it is about helping you better understand yourself, make sense of your experiences, and move towards lasting, meaningful change.

I am committed to ongoing professional development to ensure my practice remains informed, responsive, and up to date. I also attend regular clinical supervision in line with the professional standards of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), ensuring that my work is ethical, reflective, and grounded in best practice.
