About me
Hi, I’m Caroline, I’m a BACP registered counsellor and psychotherapist working with both individual adults and children and young people.
My main specialities are working with anxiety and depression, negative thoughts, domestic abuse and helping individuals with change/life transitions, whether this is adolescents trying to navigate the turbulence in life at this time or older clients navigating a big life change like divorce, redundancy or retirement or just getting older and feeling stuck and unsure of their next stages.
I also have an interest in eating disorders and am continuously learning and developing my knowledge and understanding here.
Training, qualifications & experience
I did my Postgraduate training in Person-Centred Counselling at Aberdeen University before going on to gain an additional specialist certificate in Counselling Children and Young People. Since qualifying I have worked both as a sessional counsellor with adults and as a secondary school counsellor.
I chose the person-centred approach as the foundation for my training and practice because I believe that simple talk therapy is incredibly powerful and that most of us aren’t often given this space in life where we are simply listened to, heard and understood.
As a person-centred therapist, I place a huge emphasis on the therapist-client relationship and so it’s important that we are the right fit. I therefore offer a free 20-minute initial consultation online for both adults and young people, so that you can meet me first and make sure I’m the right fit for you. Afterwards, there is no obligation for you to proceed to regular sessions.
Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Further information
I completed my counsellor training after longing to become a therapist for around 10 years. This longing came initially from my own positive experiences within counselling throughout my 20s and so I fully understand how difficult and daunting it can be initially coming to therapy. My clients have described me as warm, honest and understanding and therefore I will offer you a space where there is honesty, empathy and which feels safe, comfortable and non-judgmental where you can make sense of your experiences and you can truly be yourself.
If you're not sure where to start or just not sure about therapy in general, please get in touch and we can meet for a free 20-minute initial online consultation to talk through the process and make sure you find the right fit.
I look forward to meeting you.
