Carole Roberts MSc, RGN, COSRT Accredited Sex and Relationship Psychosexual Psychotherapist and Couples Therapist and COSRT registered Clinical Supervisor
I am an experienced Psychosexual Psychotherapist with over 20 years of providing high quality couples therapy and individual therapy for clients struggling with sex and relationship difficulties. I also provide supervision to trainee and experienced psychosexual therapists. I maintain my registration as a Registered General Nurse, as the medical and psychological complexity of sexual difficulties can commonly overlap. I have managed a large established NHS Psychosexual Service since 2002 providing training experience for many trainee and newly qualified therapists.
I address sexual disorders for all gendered/non-gendered individuals in addition to sexuality and gender development/congruence issues. My outcome data and customer feedback demonstrate my effectiveness as a therapist and provision of excellent care to my clients.
I use an integrated therapeutic approach tailored to meet the individual needs of my clients including CBT, Psycho-education, Arousal Enhancement, Trauma Focused Therapy, Transactional Analysis, Compassion Approaches, Person Centred, Couples Therapy.

I work with individuals and couples age 18 and over with no upper age limit. I provide face to face sessions in addition to virtual online sessions. I am experienced with clients residing in the UK and also worldwide
Training, qualifications & experience
I am a qualified Registered General Nurse training at Withington Hospital 1980-83 (NMC registration number 80Y1786E). In the early 90's I was a practice nurse and became the woman’s health nurse specialist. I qualified as a Family Planning Nurse in 1993 and developed an interest in sexual function/disorder which developed as I studied at the University of Central Lancashire (UCLAN) 1999-2001 and obtained a Post Graduate Diploma in Psychosexual Therapy followed by an MSc in the same subject with distinction in 2002.
- In 2015, I approached and worked with UCLAN to reintroduce the subject of Psychosexual Therapy back onto the offered curriculum and became part of the university course leadership team until 2024.
- I have been Principal Therapist and Service Lead for the NHS Psychosexual Service since 2002, which has a geographical footprint covering all of Lancashire and Blackpool. Since 2002, I have been significantly involved as a key trainer for psychosexual therapy trainees studying in academic establishments across the UK.
- I am a senior accredited therapist with the College of Sex and Relationship Therapists (COSRT) (membership registration number 1862) and registered supervisor of psychosexual therapist within the service team but also external to the NHS.
- I am a Registered Principal Trainer in Foundation Sexual Problems for the Faculty of Sexual and Reproductive Healthcare of The Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists and have lectured nationally on the subject of sexual disorder since 2004 for the NHS and also the pharmaceutical industry.

Additional information
Sessions are one hour in length. Currently fees are £98 for an individual and £112 for a couple session. I expect to see clients approximately three weekly with a commitment that they complete guided work between sessions to support the therapeutic process
