About me

Hi, my name is Carol. Firstly, thank you for taking the time to visit this directory. Whether you are actively looking for support or just having a scroll, I really appreciate you taking a moment to explore this space. Reaching out (or even thinking about it) takes courage, and I want to acknowledge that.

As a predominantly person‑centred counsellor, I believe that you are the expert in your own life. My role is not to tell you what to do, but to offer a safe, supportive space where you can explore your thoughts and feelings at your own pace. However, at times I also draw on additional approaches to meet my clients needs in a flexible, responsive way.

This means I will listen without judgment, meet you with honesty, and value you for who you are. Together, we can work to understand your experiences, uncover patterns, and find ways forward that feel right for you.

I know that taking the step to begin counselling can feel daunting. That’s why I aim to create a space that feels welcoming and down‑to‑earth, where you can bring whatever is on your mind, whether it’s anxiety, stress, grief, trauma, or simply a desire to understand yourself better.

I have spent over 10 years working in social care, supporting children, families, carers, and care leavers through some of life's most difficult times.

During this time, I have had the privilege of working alongside people from many different backgrounds, cultures, and life experiences. It was through this work that I felt inspired to train as a therapeutic counsellor. Everyone's journey is unique, but here are some of the areas I have previously and often supported with:

  • Anxiety
  • Stress
  • Menopause
  • Abuse
  • Trauma
  • Grief and loss
  • Relationships and attachments
  • Identity and self-exploration
  • Life transitions
  • Family dynamics
  • Confidence and self-worth
  • Change and uncertainty
  • Intrusive thoughts or overwhelming feelings
  • Making sense of your story

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Additional information

Counselling sessions are available on a one‑to‑one basis for those aged 18 and above, and I also offer sessions  for couples/relationships.

I have  a flexible approach designed to fit around what works best for you. This includes:

  • Online - from the comfort of your own home
  • By telephone - a flexible option if you prefer voice-only support
  • Face to face - at a welcoming location in Brighouse

Counselling sessions normally last for 1 hour and are offered on a weekly or fortnightly basis, depending on what feels most supportive for you.

The standard fee is £50 per session for one to one and £75 for couples/relationhip sessions.

Counselling can be short‑term or longer‑term depending on what feels right for you. We will review this together as we go, making sure the support continues to meet your needs.

If you are interested in counselling and would like to see how it feels to talk with me, I offer a free 15‑minute telephone call. This gives us a chance to connect, discuss what you are looking for, and answer any questions you may have.

There is no obligation to continue afterwards, this is simply an opportunity to explore whether counselling feels right for you. My hope is that this first conversation helps you feel at ease and reassured that support is available whenever you are ready.
