About me

Hello,  I’m Carol and welcome to my profile. Are you someone who has experienced difficult challenges, leaving you feeling “stuck” or “lost”?  This may leave you feeling anxious, afraid and finding it hard to cope with daily activities? I am here to provide you with a safe, confidential space as we work together to help you gain insight, self-awareness, clarity, confidence and positive growth towards greater fulfilment. I have specialist experience in helping people who have been impacted by experiencing domestic, family or childhood abuse. Whatever the issue we can explore this together in counselling. You do not need to feel alone

Using a psychodynamic approach, I aim to help you to understand how your current feelings, thoughts and behaviours are shaped by past experiences. Within our trusting relationship, I will encourage you to talk freely about whatever comes to mind. Talking openly, honestly and without being judged is what you will be provided with. The patterns of what lies in your unconscious mind begins to emerge and we will then explore this together.

I understand the importance of establishing a confidential therapeutic relationship within a safe environment that offers acceptance and empathy. The aim is to enable you to experience a safe base to unravel any unresolved conflict and “join the dots” in order to achieve your goals., becoming empowered to develop confidence to bring about long lasting, positive change.

Training, qualifications & experience

In my early nursing career, I worked with people who experienced physical, emotional and mental health issues. This enabled me to develop a passion to support people who have experienced emotional and psychological issues in their lives.

I achieved a BSc (Hons) Psychology and throughout my life, I have continued to support people who have shown courage to reach out for support. I have worked with people who have faced emotional difficulties, resulting from being diagnosed with rare genetic disorders. I have worked with young people and adults affected by childhood sexual exploitation and sexual abuse. I have provided emotional and psychological support to young people and adults within a prison and also within mainstream and behavioural schools. I have experience in working with the LGBT and transgender community. I have offered specialist domestic abuse, trauma recovery and counselling services.

I have experience working with clients from diverse backgrounds and ages with a wide range of challenges. These include, but are not limited to anxiety, domestic abuse, trauma, addiction, bereavement, physical health, rape, self-harm, suicidal thoughts, work-related stress, frustration, historical sexual abuse, shame, and depression. As a confident and ethical practitioner, I can offer a place to explore whatever you would like to bring.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
