About me

My name is Dr Carly Keyes and I am a Chartered Clinical Psychologist and Fully BABCP accredited CBT Therapist in Hertfordshire and North London.

Life is a journey full of ups and downs. I am here to understand your current difficulties, to work with you and help you get equipped with strategies to help you cope during the down times in order for you to enjoy the ups.

I offer psychological therapy that is personalised to you to help you blossom. I believe the therapeutic relationship is fundamental and for you to build trust in me and feel relaxed in the sessions to get the most benefit from psychological therapy to start living a richer and fulfilling life.

NHS Trained: My clinical training was based in the NHS. This means that I have been trained in the latest evidence-based models and techniques, to provide you the highest standard of care.

Flexible: I understand that life brings you lots of competing demands. Therefore, I try to be as flexible as I can with appointments and arrange sessions to suit you.

Choice: At my practice you have the choice of how many sessions you wish to have. My aim is to guide you through your journey to emotional wellbeing as quickly as possible.

EXPERIENCE:

I’m a warm, caring, and dedicated Senior Clinical Psychologist and CBT Therapist, and passionate about providing the highest quality of care. I have over 10 years experience working in the NHS.

I am a Visiting Lecturer on the Doctorate in Clinical Psychology programme at University of Hertfordshire and teach on the CBT and child module. I am also a Visiting Lecturer on the psychology undergraduate programme at UCL. I am an interviewer for the selection intake of Doctoral students for the Doctorate in Clinical Psychology programme at University of Hertfordshire. I am an Associate Fellow of The Higher Education Academy.

After completing an Honours psychology degree at University of Sussex I gained two Postgraduate degrees, one in Mental Health Studies from the University of Hertfordshire, and the other in Evidence-Based Psychological Therapies from the University of Reading. I then spent years working in the NHS with adults, couples, and groups providing CBT in GP surgeries.

I completed the Doctorate in Clinical Psychology at the University of Hertfordshire. My specialist placement was working with children and young people with moderate to severe mental health difficulties including Autistic Spectrum Disorder (ASD) at The Tavistock.

In the latter years, I specialised working with children, adolescents, and families when I worked in NHS Tier 3 Specialist Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS) teams.
I am skilled in providing consultation and training to different professionals such as schools, Social Services, Paediatricians, GPs, and care homes.

I have completed British Psychological Society (BPS) approved supervision training and have been appointed as a clinical supervisor to different disciplines.

REGISTRATIONS & ACCREDITATIONS

All Clinical Psychologists, including myself are registered with the Health & Care Professions Council (HCPC) (PYL32454). The HCPC ensure that only clinicians with accredited qualifications and who meet the required standards for proficiency and professional conduct can practice using the title ‘Psychologist.’

The BPS is the professional body that oversees the work of qualified Psychologists and provides benchmarks for professional standards of psychological knowledge and expertise. I hold Chartership with the BPS (404722). BPS Chartership is a mark of experience, competence and reputation for anyone looking to employ a private Psychologist.

I am also fully accredited with British Association for Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies (BABCP), the UK's leading organization for CBT (090129).

I am enhanced DBS checked and registered with the Information Commissioner's Office, in order to maintain data confidentiality.

The BABCP is the lead organisation for Cognitive Behavioural Therapy in the UK. Membership is open to anyone with an interest in the practice, theory or development of CBT. BABCP also provides accreditation for CBT therapists. BABCP accredited members adhere to the Standards of Conduct, Performance and Ethics in the Practice of Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies, and are willing to be scrutinised in this adherence as required.

The HCPC are an independent, UK-wide health regulator. They set standards of professional training, performance and conduct for 16 professions.

Registration means that a health professional meets national standards for their professional training, performance and conduct.

My specialism is working with children and young people presenting with anxiety and depression as well as their families. I also work with adults presenting with mental health difficulties.

My specialist areas are in the field of Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) and Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) as well as other anxiety difficulties. I have published widely in these fields. Please see my website for my publications.

£130.00 - £140.00

Additional information

The cost of each appointment, this may be the initial assessment or subsequent therapy sessions at 50 minutes, is £130.00 – this would be for either individual sessions, couple sessions, family sessions via online therapy (e.g. Zoom, Teams, or telephone etc.).

The cost of each face-to-face appointment, this may be the initial assessment or subsequent therapy sessions at 50 minutes, is £140.00 - this would be for either individual sessions, couple sessions, or family sessions. Our clinics are in Wheathampstead, St. Albans and Hertford.

The cost of assessment reports and discharge reports are charged at my hourly rate of £130.00.

​PAYMENT:

Payment is paid by bank transfer a minimum of 24 hours before each session.

​It is key that you attend sessions so that you have the greatest opportunity to achieve your goals. ​ In the event of cancelling a session, please provide at least 24 hours' notice. A £130.00 payment (for remote session) and a £140.00 payment (for face-to-face session) will be charged for sessions cancelled within 24 hours of the appointment time or missed.

When I work

I arrange sessions to suit you whether that would be weekday early mornings, during the day, after school, or evenings. My Practice is also open on the weekends.
