About me

Hello, I'm Carly.

I assist individuals in building an authentic connection with themselves and embracing their ability to create positive change. My focus is on supporting personalised and lasting change. I am an integrative counsellor (MBACP) with a private practice in Hythe, Kent.

Sometimes when we are faced with stress, we can lose sight of our inner strength. You are the only one who truly understands your feelings. Together, we will explore your relationship with yourself and the world around you. While I can't offer advice or tell you what to do, my counselling training enables me to adapt and customise therapy to suit your individual needs.

My mission is to create a meaningful therapeutic relationship between us, so that you can comfortably bring all of yourself to therapy. My practice draws on the mind-body connection, recognising that we often store our emotions physically within our body. I will integrate your mental, physical and emotional experiences into our work. I aim to support you in understanding yourself, coping with difficult emotions, and enhancing your wellbeing, whilst working at your pace.

Training, qualifications & experience

My approach to therapy is flexible, personalised and collaborative.

Whether you are struggling with a personal crisis, managing a difficult life transition, or wanting to proactively work on personal growth, I am here to work in a curious and creative way with your needs.

People work with therapists for a variety of reasons; all of which are unique to the individual. I am a qualified, BACP registered integrative counsellor, insured and DBS checked. My accredited training draws on various approaches including, humanistic, person-centred, existential, psychodynamic, cognitive and relational.

My professional experience also incorporates mindfulness techniques to enrich my therapeutic approach. This helps me remain present with you and empowers you to cultivate and transform your self-awareness in each moment.

My work is dedicated to enabling individuals to make informed decisions, embrace healthy practices, and contribute to better societies. Together, we can explore your inner resources, look at new ways of coping and discover your relationship with yourself and others.

Your therapy sessions are a dedicated time for you to explore what's important to you. I understand that starting therapy can feel daunting. It takes courage to seek support. If you feel ready to begin your therapeutic journey, then please get in touch to arrange an initial chat.

I work in an open-ended manner, which means that you decide for how long you wish to be in therapy.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Further information

Your first therapy session is an opportunity to share with me what has brought you to therapy, and what you hope to get from it. We will spend time exploring how we will work together.

We will also use our first session to answer your questions, explore your expectations and clarify any concerns you may have about therapy.

I will ask you some standard questions during this session as part of your introduction to therapy and we will chat about confidentiality.

All counselling sessions are 50-minutes.
