About me

Hello, I'm Cara, I am a caring, calming and ethical therapist. I have helped many clients work through anxiety, recover from depression and heal from burnout. I have 7 years post qualification experience working with a vast range of issues including stress, relationship issues, fears of death, search for meaning and purpose,  and trauma. Also, I help support people navigate their neurodivergence and find ways to thrive with their autism and or ADHD.

Maybe you're feeling lost or stuck and you're not quite sure what to expect from counselling and what you'd like to get from counselling? I can help you build self-awareness and self esteem, to heal and help you find your way forward.

I offer in person sessions, online, telephone and outdoor sessions.

Outdoor working: I can send more info on my outdoor therapy if you are considering working outside? I am also studying an ecotherapy course at the moment and am building on my nature-based practice.

I am currently working privately with clients and I am also an affiliate counsellor for a couple of mental health services. I work with a variety of clients from all over the UK with different occupations, different cultural backgrounds and different issues to work through.

I also Rewind Therapy for traumas and phobias. Phobia treatment would usually take place over two sessions and it is a technique which works while you are feeling relaxed and safe. The Rewind technique is a safe an ethical treatment which is non evasive and does not involve the client having to talk through the trauma.

** I do not work with children at the moment, I only work with age 17 and over in private practice.

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
