About me

Hello, I'm Cara, I am a Person-Centred counsellor from Newton-le-willows. I am, insured and accredited with the BACP.  People say that I am a caring, calming and ethical therapist. I am a resilient person and I take self-care seriously so that I can be the best therapist I can be.  I am always continuing my professional development by attending new courses and studying.

I offer in person sessions, online, telephone and outdoor sessions. I am currently building on my nature based therapies as that is an area which I really enjoy. I can send more info on my outdoor therapy if you are considering working outside? I am also planning to start an ecotherapy course in September.

I am currently working privately and I also work with some other agencies such as Nuffield Health, Onebright and Xyla.  I work with a variety of clients from all over the UK with different occupations, backgrounds and different issues to work through. I have completed over 800 client hours and qualified in 2018.

I now offer Rewind Therapy for traumas and phobias. Phobia treatment would usually take place over two sessions and it is a technique which works while you are feeling relaxed and safe. The Rewind technique is a safe an ethical treatment which is non evasive and does not involve the client having to talk through the trauma.

** I do not work with children at the moment, I only work with age 17 and over in private practice.

Member organisations

Registered / Accredited

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
