About me

Hello, I’m Capucine From the outside, you might be managing: you show up to work, to the people who need you, to everything that’s expected of you. But something may have been weighing on you for a while. Anxiety that won’t settle. A low mood you can’t quite explain. A sense that the world fits everyone else more comfortably than it fits you, and a tiredness that comes from holding it all together. Whatever brought you here, you don’t have to keep managing it alone.

Who I work with My main areas of work are anxiety, panic attacks, depression, low self-esteem and burnout. Many of the people I see are struggling with a sense of not belonging, of being too much or not enough, or of living behind a mask that has become exhausting to maintain.

I also work with neurodivergence, including adults with an autism or ADHD diagnosis and those who have always sensed they’re different but never found a label that fits, as well as parents navigating the demands of raising a neurodivergent child.

Beyond these, I welcome people facing loneliness, relationship difficulties, life transitions, work-related stress and bereavement, and those carrying experiences that are hard to name or have rarely felt safe to talk about: trauma, bullying, neglect and the lasting effects of abusive or toxic relationships.

How I work Person-centred therapy places the relationship between us at the heart of the work. I’m genuinely curious about each person I see, and I have a deep respect for the complexity of individual experience. I want to understand what is actually happening for you, not offer a ready-made explanation. If you’ve rarely felt fully understood, that’s exactly what I’m here for.

What to expect There’s no pressure to tell your whole story in the first session, or to arrive knowing what you want to say. We go at your pace. Some people come with something specific they want to work through. Others simply know that something isn’t right. Both are good places to start.

What might change over time Therapy doesn’t erase what’s hard, but the way you carry it can shift. Over time, the people I work with often find they can pause before the old reaction takes over, rather than bracing for the worst or smoothing things over on instinct. They start to recognise their own needs as worth attending to. They spend less energy managing how they come across, and more simply being themselves. The sense of having to earn your place by being useful, agreeable or impressive begins to loosen its grip.

Who I am as a practitioner I trained at the Metanoia Institute, London, in person-centred psychotherapy and I’m a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). I have a background in scientific research and stay close to current research in psychotherapy, neuroscience and psychiatry, because I want to know what helps people feel better. I also know from my own experience what it is to live with anxiety and to feel, at times, completely overwhelmed by it. And I have a personal connection to neurodivergence that goes beyond my clinical work, which shapes how I listen.

Practical details Sessions are 50 minutes long and usually take place weekly, at the same time and day, in Balham/Clapham. I practise in both English and French. If online sessions work better for you, we can adapt them to what helps you feel at ease.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
