About me

I am a qualified, experienced and BACP registered and accredited counsellor and can provide counselling sessions either in my comfortable counselling room in my home or I can offer home visits, telephone or online counselling via Skype. Be assured that you will receive a friendly and welcoming approach from me, so please get in contact and we can discuss your requirements in confidence.  I offer a discounted rate for the first session so that you can make an informed decision about whether you would like to work with me.

I offer Person-Centred Counselling which firmly believes in the therapeutic relationship between the client and counsellor. I provide an emotionally supportive, non-judgemental and compassionate environment, where you can feel safe to talk openly about what is concerning you.  Through careful listening, reflection and professional insight I will provide you with space to think things through and support you in exploring the different aspects of the problems you’re facing, so that you can gain clarity in what is happening in your life, heal from any past hurts and find hope for the future.

I also have knowledge and experience of using Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and Transactional Analysis and can integrate this within the counselling session if we both agree that it will be helpful.

Training, qualifications & experience

I am a qualified counsellor with a Level 5 Professional Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling and a British Psychological Society Approved Certificate in Third Wave Cognitive Behavioural Therapy which includes: Compassion-Focused Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and Mindfulness. I also hold an NCFE Level 3 Diploma in Counselling Skills and an NCFE Level 2 Certificate in Counselling Skills. I am committed to furthering my qualifications and training through ongoing professional development and have undergone training in Emotional Resilience, The Enneagram (understanding different personalities and how that impacts on counselling practice) and Information Governance (managing client information to NHS guidelines for confidentiality).

I am a Registered and Accredited Member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (Accreditation is 'a higher quality standard for more experienced members' of the BACP) and adhere to their Ethical Framework for Good Practice.

I have DBS clearance (previously called CRB checked).

I have significant experience working one-to-one with clients in private practice and within a Primary Care setting, providing counselling for a variety of issues including: depression, anxiety, generalised anxiety disorder, panic, stress, work-related stress, anger, insomnia, low self-esteem, low self-confidence, physical abuse, emotional abuse, sexual abuse, bullying, domestic violence, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, relationship issues, divorce, redundancy, spirituality, bereavement.
