About me

There is nothing more powerful than being truly heard and understood. In therapy, I create a warm, safe space for you to bring whatever thoughts, feelings or behaviours are troubling you. My approach is gentle and calm and I only ever work at a pace you feel comfortable with. I don't rush to explain away or fix, but instead I listen carefully and build trust. I will stay with you as you safely explore things that, perhaps you've never felt able to delve into before so that you can move towards wholeness and healing.

I have experience of working with grief, loss, sadness and low mood, stress, anxiety, low self esteem, trauma, childhood abuse, sexual violence and relationship difficulties.

As an Integrative Counsellor, I work in a way that is adaptive and responsive to the person in front of me. No two people are the same, so why should counselling be one-size fits all? Choosing the right tools to work with each individual is part of what makes Integrative counselling so powerful. It helps you to find greater clarity about what is going on in your life, to grow personally and to find peace and acceptance.

It is vital that you find a counsellor that you can really connect with. Drop me an email and I will be in touch about a free initial call to explore whether counselling with me is a good fit for you.

Training, qualifications & experience

I have an Advanced Level 5 Diploma in Integrative Counselling and have undertaken additional training in sexual violence, working with grief, trauma informed therapy, play therapy and creative methods. Prior to training as a counsellor, I worked for twenty years in the charitable sector with organisations supporting vulnerable adults and children.

I have experience of working with issues such as grief and loss, low mood, anxiety, trauma, sexual violence, childhood abuse, work-related stress, low self-confidence, relationship problems, attachment and spiritual crises in both short and longer-term counselling.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
