About me

Do you need a hand with personal growth? Is there something that is worrying you, and you need a sense of clarity over? Are there some things that have gone unsaid, that keep resurfacing at times you can't predict? Maybe I can help.

I work with issues such as anxiety, low mood, trauma, stress, relationship difficulties, grief, and many more (see detailed list further down). It takes true strength to speak up, and something I will stand by your side with.

I practice Integrative psychotherapy, meaning I do not stay with one particular modality- instead, choosing a range of different theories and perspectives, to help bring you the most tailored therapy that I can. That being said, I also believe the therapeutic relationship we'll hopefully build, is one of the most beneficial aids for therapy.

If therapy with me is something you've become curious about, then try getting in touch. We can schedule in a 30 minute intro and brief assessment, to relax, get to know a bit about you, and identify some of your goals. This talk also lets me explain about my process in therapy, and if, after this no-obligations chat, you feel you want to continue, then we can move onto booking your first session!

Afterwards, I will email over some documents to fill out, just to gather some personal details from you - GP and contact details, before our first session.

Currently, I am offering Online (WhatsApp Video or MS Teams), and telephone sessions.

I balance my private work alongside other commitments. I will aim to respond to you as soon as possible, however, please expect a short delay in response to communication.

Training, qualifications & experience

My qualifications:

I hold a MSc Degree in Integrative Counselling & Psychotherapy from the University of Derby. I am a member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP).

I also have a Level 4 Online Diploma in Counselling Skills and Studies.

My experience:

I have been working therapeutically for many years. This began within the criminal justice system, working closely with offenders, of whom had a Personality Disorder diagnosis.

I have experience of working as a mental health coach, providing 1:1 and group support to clients with a broad range of difficulties, troubles, and diagnoses.

Currently, I support a charity in a part-time therapy role as a therapist and support worker, specialising in sexual abuse and childhood sexual abuse.

My training:

I continue to train and attend Continued Professional Development (CPD) to better inform my practice.

I attend regular supervision and keep an enhanced and up-to-date DBS check.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

This list is by no means exhaustive.

I am trained to practice Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Person-Centred, and Attachment-Based therapy, however I have knowledge and skills within other therapies ticked below. Ultimately, as an Integrative Psychotherapist, I blend theories to match the client I work with.
