About me
I am a Clinical Psychologist based in Gloucestershire with ten years of experience working within Mental Health Teams in the NHS. My expertise is in assessing and treating adults experiencing a wide range of psychological, emotional, relational and physical health difficulties.
I have particular experience and interest in the following area's:
- Anxiety - helping people to notice and reduce anxiety in their bodies
- Relationships and attachment - helping people to notice patterns and problems within relationship
- Trauma and Traumatic experiences
- Mood problems (including high or low mood)
- Eating difficulties
- Understanding the link between the mind and body
- Medically unexplained symptoms
- Self-esteem and self-attack - helping people to change the harsh ways that they treat themselves.
- Helping people that hurt themselves
These are just a few examples. When we meet together we will create an understanding of your difficulties.
I understand that making a commitment to yourself through psychological therapy is a significant and important step for many people. To help with this I offer clients a complimentary fifteen minute telephone consultation prior to initial sessions to discuss any questions that you may have. If you decide to go ahead with an appointment, we can agree a mutually convenient time.
In our initial session I will begin to get a thorough understanding of your current difficulties, and you will also get a sense of the way in which I work and how we will work together to help you.

Training, qualifications & experience
I have worked within the NHS, private services and the voluntary sector for the last ten years. I am a Registered Clinical Psychologist which means that I have studied to Doctoral level.
As a Clinical Psychologist I have been trained to draw on a number of models, depending on the needs of an individual. This includes aspects of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Psychodyanmic Therapy, Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT), Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT), motivational interviewing and mindfulness.
As well as being trained to a Doctorate level I have also completed two years of additional specialist psychotherapy training in Intensive Short Term Dynamic Psychotherapy (ISTDP). This model helps individuals to face into their feelings about past and present experiences that often overwhelm them due to their frightening or painful nature. My work is largely influenced by this model.

The HCPC are an independent, UK-wide health regulator. They set standards of professional training, performance and conduct for 16 professions.
They keep a register of health professionals who meet their standards, and they take action if registered health professionals fall below those standards. They were created by a piece of legislation called the Health Professions Order 2001.
Registration means that a health professional meets national standards for their professional training, performance and conduct.
