About me
I provide therapy to young adults, adults and couples for a range of concerns such as anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, life transitions, self-esteem, adjustment, grief, and cultural and identity-related issues. I have a specialist area of interest in women's mental health including mental health concerns during pregnancy, postpartum periods, motherhood and career development.
I understand it can feel challenging to begin work with a therapist, and aim to create a space that feels safe, accepting and non-judgmental. I work closely with clients to understand their unique context and goals, so I can tailor treatment plans based on each client's unique needs. I focus on deepening my clients' understanding of themselves, with the goal of helping clients experience the sense of empowerment and freedom that often comes with deeper self understanding.
Training, qualifications & experience
I am trained at the doctoral level as an integrative psychotherapist. I completed my PhD in Counseling Psychology from the University of Maryland (UMD), College Park in the United States. I have also completed Masters degrees in Rehabilitation Counselling (from UMD) and Clinical Psychology (from Delhi University). I have over 15 years of experience providing therapy to adults and young adults, and have worked as a psychotherapist in the United States, India and the UK.
I am also a university lecturer and a psychotherapy researcher. My research focuses on psychotherapy processes, perinatal concerns, women’s and young adults’ mental health. I have published an extensive number of articles in these fields. I believe research is most meaningful when it applies to practice and thus apply my research and clinical practice to help create opportunities for client growth.
Member organisations

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
