About me

Hello and welcome! My name is Ashley Jack, a dedicated and passionate Therapist specialising in Transactional Analysis, and a registered member of the BACP. I offer Individual and Couple's Counselling through my practice, Mia-Life based in Dundee City Centre.

I strive to create a safe and nurturing space where you can explore the challenges in your life. Whether you're dealing with childhood trauma, relationship breakdowns, stress, overwhelm, depression, or other forms of distress and anxiety, I am here to help. I have a special interest in exploring the impact of our relationships on our sense of self and how these relationships shape our movement through the world.

My approach to therapy primarily involves the use of Transactional Analysis, combined with elements from various modalities where suitable. I believe in being curious about the discomforts of the present, understanding how past experiences have shaped our coping strategies, and working together to modernise these strategies to better suit your present circumstances and reduce feelings of anxiety.

As your therapist, I aim to strike a balance between being relational and directive, providing guidance when appropriate. My ultimate goal for our sessions is for you to improve your relationship with yourself, fostering a stronger sense of self-understanding and self-compassion.

In this increasingly digital world, I'm pleased to offer online counselling sessions, allowing you to engage in therapy in a way that's most comfortable and convenient for you. I also work in person in the City of Dundee perfectly placed for all Dundee, Angus, Fife and Perthshire clients.

Therapy needs to work for you and your lifestyle, so weekly and fortnightly schedules are available depending on individual needs as well as working around shift rotations.

I look forward to the opportunity to work with you.

Training, qualifications & experience

Experience and Focus:

In my private practice, I approach therapy with a directive and curious approach, working relationally with my clients. I believe you know yourself best, and I see myself as a co-pilot in your journey to self-awareness and healing.

My expertise lies in helping couples and individuals navigate the different seasons of their lives and their ever-changing self-identity. This includes:

Couples Counselling and Relationships: Building trust, understanding, and growth in romantic relationships.

Marriage: Strengthening the bonds of marriage, fostering open communication, and building lasting trust.

Relationship with Self: Exploring self-awareness, self-love, and self-identity, fostering a deeper connection with oneself. Understanding the causes of low self-confidence and self-esteem.

Navigating Life Changes: Supporting you through transitions, whether they're in your personal life, relationships, or career.

Anxiety and Stress: Providing a safe space to explore feelings of anxiety, stress and social-anxiety, helping you build resilience and find balance. Understanding perfectionism.

Depression: Offering guidance and support for those dealing with depression, helping you rediscover joy and purpose.

Trauma: Working with you to heal past trauma, creating a path towards recovery and empowerment.

Neurodiversity: Helping you understand your neurodiverse traits whether from ADHD or Autism and how you move through the world.

My approach integrates Transactional Analysis and relational work, enabling a tailored therapy experience that aligns with your unique needs and goals. If you're ready to embark on a journey towards a more fulfilled and self-aware life, I'm here to guide and support you every step of the way.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
