About me
Hello, my name is Aoife ('ee-f-a', an Irish name) and I am a qualified psychotherapist with a background in supporting neurodivergent students.
I provide a confidential, non-judgemental, LGBTQIA+ welcoming space where you can be heard, and together we can discuss what you are looking for. We would meet weekly, either online or in-person, and explore any challenges you may be facing.
There is no exception or pressure, you can share anything, as you feel comfortable.
I understand that we all face struggles in life and sometimes things can feel challenging or as though we are trapped in re-occurring situations. I believe in these times developing a respectful compassionate relationship with a therapist whom you feel safe enough to voice your anxieties to can be profoundly healing. I value the importance of listening to and believing every individual’s unique experience. This has been greatly influenced by my background in supporting neurodivergent students with ADHD and Autism.
I practice from a psychodynamic perspective, which helps people to understand how their early experiences may be unconsciously influencing their current thoughts, feelings, and behaviours. In our work together we may consider how the strategies that you developed as a child to cope may be creating unhelpful patterns in your current situation. Personally, I value an adaptive approach of therapy that caters to the unique needs of every individual. I have particular experience in supporting individuals who are experiencing loss, grief, and difficulty in relationships.
I offer an initial free 20-minutes phone call or video meeting to give us an opportunity to discuss what you are looking for and if we would be a good fit.

Membership
MBACP Registered Member: 411137
Member organisations

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Additional information
I understand that cost can be a barrier to therapy and provide a limited number of low-cost spaces to clients who are currently unemployed, students, refugees, or in low-wage employment. I am happy to discuss this during your initial free call.
