About me

Hello, I’m Annie.

Perhaps you’re considering therapy because you’re feeling overwhelmed, anxious or noticing patterns in your life that don’t quite make sense to you. You might be just about holding things together, or finding it hard to function at all. If you’re in need of some support and a place to think, I’m here to help you to explore your difficult feelings and current challenges.

If you haven’t had therapy before, it’s common to be unsure of where to begin. Part of my role is to help you find a starting point. If you have some experience of therapy we can talk about what felt helpful and what didn’t.

I am an integrative therapist, which means that I draw on a range of therapeutic ideas and approaches to help you make sense of how you’re feeling. The term ‘integrative therapist’ can sound a bit technical, but in practice it simply means that I don’t believe that one single approach works for everyone. Instead, I can adapt the way we work together to suit you and what you’re exploring.

Therapy is not a one-size-fits-all process - we are all unique and deserve to be met with care and understanding. I love my work and believe that therapy is most effective when it’s built on trust, curiosity and compassion - this is at the heart of what I offer.

My practice is in modern, comfortable consulting rooms in Crouch End (N8), or online, depending on what works best for you.

Outside private practice I work in community based counselling services and national helplines.

Feel free to drop me an email on enquiry@anniekuropatwatherapy.co.uk

If you don’t get a response from me within 24 hours, do check your junk folder as emails can occasionally end up there.

Training, qualifications & experience

I am a qualified counsellor and registered member of the BACP. I trained for four years at The Minster Centre in London, one of the UK’s leading integrative training institutions.

I have experience in helping with a range of issues such as stress and anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, relationship issues and sexuality, domestic violence and the challenges of major life transitions. I have completed additional training in other areas such as childhood sexual abuse, race and racism, bereavement and gender, sex and relationship diversity.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Additional information

Session fee: £80 for in-person appointments, £65 for online.

Sessions are 50 minutes.

After a free 15 minute introductory phone call, if you wish we can arrange an initial consultation at the usual session fee. This is a two-way conversation, an opportunity for me to understand what has prompted you to consider therapy, but also for you to get a sense of me and ask any questions you may have about the way I work or about therapy in general.

Following that, if we agree to work together we will meet at the same time each week in one of my consulting rooms, or online.

If you would like to, please email me at enquiry@anniekuropatwatherapy.co.uk and we can arrange a time for a phone call that works for you. If you don’t get a response within 24 hours, please check your junk folder as occasionally emails can end up there.

Once you have been in touch to say you’re considering therapy with me, I will send you a brief, confidential Client Information form to complete and return before our initial consultation. Should you decide not to go ahead with therapy, any personal information will be securely erased.
