About me

Counsellor for adults & supervisor specialising in school based counsellors -. primary and secondary

Counselling for Adults:  I have over 15 years experience of work with with adults, children and young people, face-to-face and online or on the phone.  Life can often throw us a curve ball and none more so than in the last year.  Many people find talking to a sympathetic independent person, who is there just for them, helps them to solve problems and work through difficulties more quickly.  I offer a warm, safe and supportive environment to explore issues you are worried about and enable you to find solutions that feel right for you.  These could include difficulties such as

  • Anxiety
  • Depression  & low mood
  • Breavment & loss
  • Low self-esteem, confidence of loss of motivation
  • Work based stress and burn out - pariticuarly for eductiona professionals
  • Concerns about family, children and relationships
  • Life stage's and big life changes.

Sessions are charged at £55.00

Support for School Based Staff

For the past 12 years I have also worked for the largest school based mental health charity working with children, young people, parents/carers and teachers in both primary and scondary schools. Working with both adults and children in this way has given me a broad depth of experience in many areas including working with the stresses and demands placed on teaching and schoolbased staff that can lead to burn-out. I also provide a space for education professionals to consider the impact of mental health on their whole school community, something that is particularly relevant as we all transition out of lockdown and the impact of the pandemic.

Sessions are charged at £55.00 and could be for one-to-one or small groups of colleagues such as pastoral teams, mental health leads and class teachers for example.

Supervision for Counsellors with a specialism in counsellors of children & young people

As a supervisor I work with supervisee's who work with adults and those who work with children and young peoppe.  I have a wealth of expereince as a school based counsellor (primary & secondary), mental health manager and supervisor within the education sector as well as being CPCAB trainer for school based counsellors.

Never has there been a greater need to support the adults around children and young people.  I have a particular passion for this work grounded in attachement theory, play therapy, solution focused and CBT,  adverse childhood expereinces and nuroscience.  Understanding the emotions behind all our behaviour, but particularlly what it might be expressing for your young people, has never been more important.

Sessions are charged at £60.00

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
