About me
Welcome!
Taking the first step towards counselling can feel daunting. You may have spent weeks, or months or even years putting everyone else's needs before your own, trying to cope alone or telling yourself that things will eventually get better. Reaching out takes courage, and finding the right therapist is an important part of that journey.
I'm Anne Marie, an integrative counsellor and psychotherapist, offering face-to-face counselling in Leicestershire alongside online and telephone therapy.
I believe that therapy should feel like a genuine connection rather then simply answering questions or following a process. My aim is to create a warm, professional compassionate space where you feel able to talk openly, without judgement, at a pace that feels right for you.
As an integrative counsellor, I don't believe in a 'one size fits all' approach. Every person arrives with their own experiences, story, relationships and challenges, so I tailor therapy to you as an individual. Together we can explore not only what is happening in your life today but also the experiences and patterns that may be influencing how you feel, helping you develop self understanding and lasting emotional resilience and growth.
I work with adults and young people aged 12 and above experiences anxiety, depression, stress burnout, relationship difficulties, trauma, sexual abuse, low self esteem, life transitions, neurodivergence, addiction, self harm and many other emotional challenges.
A particular area of professional interest is trauma and men's mental health. My research at the University of Warwick explored experiences of male survivors of sexual trauma and the impact of stigma on masculinity. This has given me a deeper understanding of the barriers men face when asking for help. I also work work with women and children 12 and above.
I also have a degree in education and this experience shaped my understanding of emotional wellbeing, relationships and the challenges faced by young people and families. It enables me to bring both professional knowledge and genuine empathy into my counselling work.
Clients often tell me they appreciate having someone who is approachable and easy to talk to. Whether you are facing a current crisis, carrying difficult experiences from the past or simply feeling like life has become overwhelming, you don't have to go through it alone.
If you're considering counselling, I offer a 15 minute free consultation. This gives you the opportunity to ask any questions, tell me a little about what has brought you to therapy and decide whether we feel like the right fit to work together.
I look forward to hearing from you.
Anne Marie

Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Further information
Every therapeutic relationship is unique, and finding the right counsellor is extremely important. I offer a free 15 minute introductory consultation, giving you the opportunity to ask me questions, tell me about what has brought you here and for you to decide if we are can work together,
Sessions are 50 minutes long and available face to face, online or by telephone. Whether you are seeking short term support for a specific issue or long term therapy to explore deeper patterns, we will work together at a pace that is comfortable for you.
I understand that starting therapy can feel overwhelming, particularly if you have never spoken to a counsellor before/ You don't need to know exactly what to say or have everything worked out before you begin.
Above all, I believe that meaningful long lasting therapy is built on trust, authenticity and a strong therapeutic relationship. My aim is not simply to help you cope with life's challenges, but to help you grow, understand yourself more deeply and create lasting change .
