About me

Hi. My name is Annie and I'm a UKCP and BACP Accredited Integrative Psychotherapeutic Counsellor. I believe the therapy experience should be as unique as you are, and with this in mind I draw from a variety of approaches to tailor therapy for you. I offer a warm, compassionate and supportive environment in which to explore the issues that bring you to counselling, helping you gain a deeper understanding of yourself. I work in a trauma informed and a neurodivergent affirming way.

I have experience working with a wide range of complex issues, including PTSD, anxiety, depression,  relationship issues, attachment issues, grief, and pregnancy loss. I have particular interests in disenfranchised and anticipatory grief, pregnancy loss, living with unseen disabilities and chronic pain, and menopause.

You may feel you don’t know where to start, or even how to begin talking.  That’s okay.  I understand how hard and daunting it can be to begin to talk and share - and how transformative the process can be to shed light on what has been held in. I understand that your experience is unique to you. Whatever it is you need to explore, I hold an empathic, reflective space to respectfully work alongside you at a pace and depth that feels manageable to you.

I volunteered for two years with Time Norfolk offering counselling support to clients who have experienced miscarriage, compassionate induction, fertility issues and stillbirth. I have also worked as a counsellor with Off The Record counselling service in Norwich.

Are you a student counsellor in Norfolk? Being UKCP registered/BACP Accredited, I meet the criteria required by Matrix College of Counselling and Psychotherapy to be a personal counsellor for their students.

My main private practice is in Acle, with easy transport links. There is on street parking nearby, regular buses that stop within a minute’s walk, and a train station a 15 minute walk away. It is a ground floor room. There are two steps to the main door.

I am available Wednesdays/Thursdays/Fridays both in person or online. If you feel I may be a good match for you, pop me a message and we can arrange an initial chat. I always aim to respond to enquiries within 24 hours. Please check your junk email if you haven’t had a timely reply.

Registered / Accredited

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

UKCP
UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP)

The UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) is a leading professional body for the education, training and regulation of psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors. Its register is accredited by the government's Professional Standards Authority.

As part of its commitment to protect the public, it works to improve access to psychotherapy, to support and disseminate research, to improve standards and to respond effectively to complaints against its members.

UKCP standards cover the range of different psychotherapies. Registration is obtained by training or accrediting with one of its member organisations, or by holding a European Certificate in Psychotherapy. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
