About me
You Are Not Alone
Feeling overwhelmed, lost, stuck or alone with your thoughts and feelings can be incredibly difficult.
I offer a compassionate and supportive space to pause, reflect, understand and rebuild. Together, we can explore your past and where you are now, and open up the possibilities for what comes next.
I am with you on your journey toward greater resilience and meaningful change.
You don't have to go through it alone.
Hello
My name is Annamaria Pal and I am a qualified Psychologist (MBPsS) and Gestalt Counsellor (MBACP).
I offer both long-term and short-term therapy.
I believe that as human beings, we are all meaning-making creatures - we strive to understand ourselves, our experiences, and the world around us. When we go through painful or overwhelming events without enough support to process them, we can be left carrying feelings or patterns that later show up as distress, tension, or difficulties in relationships.
In therapy, we create the space and support that might not have been available at the time. Together, we can begin to make sense of what has happened, explore how these experiences have shaped you, and discover new ways of relating to yourself and others. This process can open the door to healing, greater clarity, and a deeper sense of self-understanding.
How I could help you:
Gestalt Therapy lies at the heart of my work. It focuses on increasing awareness - of your thoughts, emotions, body, and environment - so you can connect more fully with the present moment. Rather than analysing from a distance, Gestalt Therapy invites you to experience and explore what is happening here and now. Through this awareness, patterns that once felt automatic or confusing begin to make sense, and new possibilities for change emerge.
Central to Gestalt Therapy is the belief that growth happens through genuine contact - with yourself, with others, and with your environment. By bringing curiosity and compassion to your inner world, we can uncover how you relate, where you might feel stuck, and how you can move toward a fuller, more authentic experience of yourself and your life.
Alongside this, I also draw on tools from Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT). CBT offers practical and evidence-based techniques that can help you understand the connection between your thoughts, emotions, and behaviours. Together, we’ll explore unhelpful patterns and experiment with new ways of thinking and responding that support your wellbeing.
My aim is to empower you with tools that you can take beyond the therapy room - strategies that help you navigate challenges, manage difficult emotions, and make meaningful changes in your daily life. This can be particularly valuable if you choose to work with me in a short-term framework, as it ensures you leave with a clear sense of understanding and practical resources to continue your growth independently.

Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
