About me

I am a BACP Accredited Psychotherapeutic Counsellor. I have worked as a counsellor for over seven years and my background is in mental health nursing so have over ten years clinical experience. I have worked for both the NHS, Voluntary organisations and private practice.

I am a friendly approachable practitioner who can support people in a warm, non-judgmental way. I have a well-rounded variety of experience so can offer very holistic approach to therapy. I trained as an Integrative Psychotherapist therefore can adapt the practice and tailor support to your individual needs.

I have a passion for what I do and know how daunting it can be when things in life can feel overwhelming. I have specialist experience working with domestic violence, sexual abuse and trauma.

I have previously worked as a holistic/complementary therapist so can bring a more holistic approach to my practice and particularly in how the body and mind connect.

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Areas of counselling I deal with

Other areas of counselling I deal with

I can work with adults with a variety of experiences and who may like some support with both current day to day issues, family related issues, personal relationships or work related issues. It may be there is no one specific area that you feel you need support with but want to just have a space to make sense of things and gain some clarity with a situation.

My background is in mental health nursing so have some knowledge of various mental health conditions as well as my experience working for different charities in areas around rape and sexual violence and domestic abuse/domestic violence.

I have also trained in areas around trauma and can offer a variety of different approaches to help support individuals with their experiences and possibly gain understanding from a more neuroscientific view as well as some possible tools to support individuals with day to day struggles.
