About me

I provide face to face, online and telephone counselling and psychotherapy, using an integrative approach.  This means I use a variety of approaches including: person-centred; transactional analysis; psychodynamic; gestalt and; cognitive behavioural therapies.  I am also a trained drama therapist, so we are able to use creative media to explore your difficulties if that interests you.

My therapy room is based in Eggborough, South of Selby in North Yorkshire.

I believe that it is the relationship that counts more than the techniques and approaches adopted.  As a sensitive, caring and highly trained empathic therapist, I can support you to:

  • feel more confident about yourself through exploration and self-acceptance
  • lead a more authentic and meaningful life
  • increase your spontaneity
  • explore and experience emotional intimacy through our therapeutic relationship
  • increase your capacity to live in the moment
  • identify what you want to change and support you to achieve your goals

I am a professional empathic listener and focus on creating a safe confidential space. Through our therapeutic relationship, we will work together to help you explore, express, better understand and accept yourself and make meaningful changes to your life.

What to expect in your first session

In our first session together I will ask you some questions about yourself and what has brought you to therapy.  We will then focus upon your aims for therapy and work together towards a goal for the work.

I am a relational therapist, which means that our relationship is the vehicle through which you can work on your goals. We can agree a set number of sessions or agree an open ended contract, depending upon whether your needs are for shorter-term work or more long-term.

Types of issues I can help with

I can provide support with a wide range of issues including: anxiety; stress; depression; eating difficulties; abuse; loneliness; relationship problems; bereavement; loss; self-esteem; confidence issues; sexual orientation; discrimination; and many more.

I have a particular interest in childhood trauma and personality adaptations.

Training, qualifications & experience

I am a qualified UKCP registered psychotherapist and psychotherapeutic counsellor with an MSc in psychotherapy - with merit (level 7) and a diploma in psychotherapeutic counselling - with distinction (level 6) from The Northern Guild for Psychotherapy and Counselling.

I am also a qualified HCPC registered Occupational Therapist and Drama Therapist. I have worked for over 26 years in either the NHS, social services or private practice, supporting people with a range of mental health and/or physical health difficulties.
