About me
My name is Anji, and I am an experienced, qualified psychotherapist and counsellor based in Markyate, Hertfordshire. I am empathic, caring and curious and use these qualities, alongside my comprehensive training, as the basis for my work.
Alongside private practice, I work for an Employee Assistance Provision (EAP), providing short-term counselling to staff within the NHS.
My passion is for psychodynamic psychotherapy. This way of working allows us to investigate and understand long-established patterns of behaviour that may be making life difficult for you now. We all have reasons for our thoughts, feelings and behaviour - and reflecting on these creates the basis for growth, self-acceptance and resolving internal conflicts.
I practice 'The Rewind' technique, which is a simple process that can reduce or remove involuntary recall, such as flashbacks & nightmares, associated with trauma. This technique can be used without you having to discuss the details of the trauma itself and can be effective very quickly, in perhaps 2 or 3 sessions for single traumatic events.
I will tailor our work together to best suit you, focusing on current difficulties as well as long-standing issues.
Counselling and psychotherapy offer you the chance to reflect in a safe, non-judgemental and supportive space, and to help you to shed some light on thoughts and feelings that may feel very dark.
I offer sessions from a private, comfortable, accessible consulting room within my home, as well as online. You can feel free to express yourself without judgement, in safe space in which you can be heard and understood.
I work long and short term, online and in person and we will agree this at the beginning of our work together. We will meet at the same time and day each week, either face-to-face or via online video conferencing.
I am a registered member of the BACP and abide by their ethical framework for excellent and professional practice. I continue to participate in professional training to ensure my work is reflective of current thinking and practice.

Member organisations

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
