About me
Hi, my name is Anja. Welcome to my page!
It takes courage to take the first steps into therapy. My clients often come to me feeling anxious and overwhelmed, being unsure how to move forward. Only feeling that they need help and something needs to change. In these difficult moments, therapy can be immensely helpful.
I am a qualified counsellor offering my sessions in English and German. My practice is holistic, trauma-informed and neuro-affirmative, because I believe in supporting the whole person.
I’ve worked in helping professions for many years. And in the past 10 years working with adults, young people and neurodivergent people. I offer a confidential and empathetic space where you can feel heard and seen and together we will find a way for you to make lasting change
My experience:
Life changes, stress, work related stress, grief, anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, loss, relationship and social difficulties, suicidal thoughts, trauma, disability, intrusive thoughts, also working with expats and digital nomads,.
I also specialise in supporting neurodivergent clients, for example Autism and ADHD. As a neurodivergent person, I am able to bring my own experience as well as many years of working with neurodivergent clients into our work together. I approach every client with acceptance, respect and curiosity, and my aim is to help you feel empowered and seen in your own experience, wherever you are in your journey. I also support couples with a neurodivergent partner.
Practical Details to my practice:
- Face to Face session £60
- Online sessions £50
- Couples £75
- Home visits £75
My practice is neuro-affirming - what does that mean?
Neurodiversity means that there are many variations in the human brain regarding learning, attention, mood, sociability, processing emotions and other mental functions that are part of normal, natural variation.
Being neuro-affirming is a perspective that challenges the traditional pathologization to view Autism and ADHD as an illness. Instead it advocates acceptance, respect, and support for all neurodivergent identities and all its variations and differences.

"Anja is a great listener. She gives you any session the possibility to speak about your current topic. She reminds all details from previous sessions, so you always get the feeling that you have just talked with her a day before even though it was 1 or 2 weeks ago."

"Anja has been an incredible help to me and I’m sure many others. She knows when to listen and when to talk, when to be a consoling arm or a motivating mentor. She often says that it is me that has to walk the path, which is true, but in the darkness Anja has been like a streetlight illuminating the way. Our time working together has been the most difficult time of my life, but working with Anja has been the silver lining of the dark cloud. I could not recommend her highly enough!"

"Anja adapts completely to my needs and my pace. She gives me very valuable feedback. She is appreciative and respectful. With Anja, I have a strong support in a difficult time. The therapy sessions are a very special moment for me during the week."

Member organisations

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

My Approach
I work Integratively, as a person centred counsellor, drawing on other technique from CBT and TA to meet your individual needs. In our first session we will decide together which form of therapy suits you best.
What’s the first session like?
In our first session, I will introduce myself and I adjust and adapt to what feels right for you. We will decide how you would like to work together and I will offer you different options. I will also make individual adjustments in our work and adapt our work according to your needs. It might be that you don't like awkward silences, are sensitive to certain sounds, colours or light sources and I try to make sure to avoid those triggers. As a person with ADHD you might like to receive reminders of your session together.
I began my working career working in schools with neurodivergent children and progressed to working mainly with adults later.
I am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP)
