About me
Do you feel like you’re carrying too much, and you’re not sure how much longer you can keep going? If you’re overwhelmed by emotions, stuck in old patterns, or simply not feeling like yourself? Do you feel disconnected from who you used to be or who you want to become? Are you struggling with the impact of past experiences that still shape your day‑to‑day life? Then you've come to the right place.
When you choose me to be your counsellor, you will be given the opportunity to:
- Explore your thoughts and feelings without judgement so you can understand what’s really going on beneath the surface
- Recognise emotional triggers and old patterns- so you can respond differently instead of feeling overwhelmed
- Strengthen boundaries, self esteem and self‑worth so you can make choices that support your wellbeing, not drain it
- Help you understand yourself better and move on from hurt from the past
I started my private practice because I saw how many people were quietly struggling feeling anxious, burned out, low, or weighed down by experiences they’ve never had the chance to process. Over the past decade, I’ve supported adults through trauma, anxiety, low mood, identity challenges, and periods of feeling lost or disconnected. I understand how exhausting it can be to hold everything together on the outside while feeling overwhelmed on the inside.
As a pluralistic counsellor, I tailor therapy to your needs. Some sessions may feel reflective and gentle; others may involve grounding, mindfulness, or exploring deeper patterns- it's up to you how you want your counselling journey to look. My approach is warm, steady, and collaborative - a space where you can feel safe, supported, and understood.
Clients often tell me they feel calmer, clearer, and more connected after therapy. They begin to trust themselves again, sleep better, communicate more openly, and feel more in control of their emotional world.
“Angela has helped me face issues like my low self-esteem, emotional turmoil, childhood trauma. She has helped me understand what feelings are by helping me learn how to recognise them, describe them which in turn helps me feel more prepared. Angela is very versatile, she can guide me through exploring childhood trauma with exercises one day but if I need to just get things off my chest, she's also a very good listener. I can just go in and say everything that's in my head and she can help me put it in order or piece it all together. It can be such a relief! Talking to friends and family is good but they are not professionals, and it can be a tough burden for them to carry, they're not taught how to deal with it. Speaking to a professional like Angela has made the conversations I do have with friends and family much more effective and meaningful.” (CHaT Counselling Client, shared with permission)

Training, qualifications & experience
I have over twenty years’ experience of working within the charity sector supporting and mentoring those who are facing difficult life circumstances. In the beginning of my career, I worked with those struggling with body image, low self-esteem, low confidence, feeling at a loss with life and supported people to find meaning and purpose in their life. I mentored for a while, helping people feel more confident in themselves and coaching people onto positive routes. I then went onto specialise in working with those who have been subjected to sexual abuse and worked for a charity that specialises in trauma informed practice for ten years. It was here I became passionate about empowering and supporting women and gained skills in working with survivors of sexual abuse in a therapeutic and trauma informed style. As a result, one of my key strengths is working with and empowering women and actively engage in groups to help promote women’s rights and also work to help prevent violence against women and girls.
I have a BA (Hons) in Social Sciences with Sociology and this qualification set me up to have an in depth understanding of social issues, inequality, the impact of poverty and discrimination and as a result have a strong desire to help support people navigate the injustices that can be unfairly handed to people as a result of societal structure and expectations. Aspects of which I can draw upon within my pluralistic counselling and wellbeing. I am dedicated to continuous learning and use my skills and knowledge to help those I work with on their journey of healing. I have also trained with organisations specialising in bereavement and single parent families.
