About me
Hi my name is Angela, if you are facing difficulties in your life, I will listen without judgement and offer you a safe, professional, confidential space where you can talk through and explore any problems you may be facing. Counselling is about helping you to discover a way forward for yourself.
Many people find it a relief just to be able to speak about what is troubling them, with another human who is outside of work, family and friendship groups.
Perhaps you are left wondering the purpose of life? who you are? your purpose and identity? Perhaps low self esteem/low self-confidence? family issues/difficult relationships? Perhaps you are looking for counselling for your teenager who you notice is 'withdrawing' or 'something is off' or perhaps they are experiencing 'exam stress' or 'bullying'. Help is available.
Sometimes life can be overwhelming, we can feel anxious, stuck, depressed, stressed or that there's something 'just not right'. I work with a range of issues including Low self esteem, Identity, Stress, Anxiety, Depression, Betrayals, Affairs, Bullying, Exam stress, Relationship difficulties, Womens Issues, Work related issues, College/University Issues and much more.
I offer a warm, compassionate space where you are free to explore the things that are causing you difficulties in life. Where you will be heard, exploring your feelings at your own individual pace. We can work together so you can; better understand your thoughts and feelings, develop healthier relationships, become more self-aware, explore if you are in need of better self-care, have a greater ability to trust oneself, and look at what it is you are needing to feel better able to cope as you work towards change. You are not alone!
I have over 5 years experience of counselling adults, children and young people both within a local secondary school, and a few counselling practices within Colchester and Braintree. Before training as a counsellor my background was within mental health support. My style has been described as warm and approachable. I aim to be genuine and have a strong belief in showing my humanness within therapy. The parts of myself that I bring into sessions are my curiosity, compassion, authenticity and humour. I don't try to pretend that I have it all figured out. I will always be respectful of your instincts and experiences and will encourage you to connect to what feels right for you.
Before my first ever personal counselling session I remember feeling nervous, anxious and unsure how counselling would help me. Remembering this helps me to offer you empathy and support, acceptance and understanding, these are the qualities that give you time and space to explore whatever is troubling you as you work towards change.
I appreciate the courage it takes in taking the first step in reaching out for help, and also recognise the huge benefits of investing in YOU and your self-care.

Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
