About me

If you’re struggling with anxiety, depression, employment, family, or relationship challenges or loss, you don’t have to face it alone - support is available.

I am passionate about the incredible capacity people have to grow, heal, and move forward - even in the face of difficult personal and professional challenges. With the right support and encouragement, positive change is always possible.

Working in and around Hinchley Wood, Esher and Surbiton both face to face and online. I offer support to individuals that are looking to untangle their emotions and patterns of being that get in the way of living a fulfilling life.

I trained as a Humanistic Counsellor at the Metanoia Institute, bringing with me a background in people-focused roles from both the not-for-profit and commercial world.

My counselling experience includes working in private practise, the charity sector and the NHS offering support for Employee Assistance, Generalised Anxiety, Depression, OCD and bereavement support.

I offer a safe, confidential, and non-judgmental space for you to explore your thoughts and emotions at your own pace. Together, we can make sense of your feelings and take the first step toward moving forward.

My counselling practice is client-centred, which means we work together focusing on your goals and progress at a pace that feels right for you.

I offer both short and long-term counselling, in person or online, tailored to your unique needs.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Additional information

I offer a free, confidential initial 15-minute call as an opportunity for you to learn more about my approach and ask any questions you may have. I would want you to feel informed and confident enough to decide if you wish to arrange an initial session.

The initial session provides an opportunity for you to explain your situation, to see if we are a good fit for one another and how therapy feels for you.

We can explore your preferences – face to face in-person support, or online alongside timing/frequency and working alliance. There is however, no pressure to begin regular therapy beyond this point.

If you decide to take up regular therapy following our initial session, we would generally meet for 50-minutes on a weekly basis with a review after the first few sessions to discuss how you are finding our work together and agree next steps.

Further information

Having worked both in the NHS and the private sector, I have experience supporting individuals from diverse ethnic, cultural, social, professional and age backgrounds.

My work with the NHS has included employee assistance support for staff, an area of counselling that compliments my background in HR and employee development.

My work at a bereavement charity has enabled me to build a strong understanding of the impact of loss. Whether loss is personal or a professional loss, recent or in the distant past there is a power in working through in order to move forward.

My sessions last 50 minutes and are generally held weekly.  In-person sessions are held near Hinchley Wood train station, with convenient, free, street parking. The location is easily accessible from Surbiton on the train and Kingston from the A3 and local bus routes.

Online sessions are also available via Zoom for your convenience.

I work humanistically, meaning that although our sessions will be guided by me, they are led by you, if we decide to work together, rest assured, I can offer somewhere safe and confidential to enable you to build your confidence to share and explore.
