About me
I am a Clinical Psychologist specialising in offering compassionate, focussed psychological therapy. Therapy can make a huge difference to the way we experience ourselves and our relationships. I offer a safe and supportive therapeutic relationship in which you are able to explore patterns in your life, inner conflicts, your values, and the changes you want to make.
Many people come to therapy because they feel stuck in familiar cycles - perhaps feeling overwhelmed, detached, self-critical, or caught in unhelpful ways of coping. These patterns often have deep roots in early relationships, trauma, or long-standing emotional conflicts. Even when we’ve coped well for years, major life changes such as loss, illness, family transitions, or burnout can bring old difficulties to the surface.
My approach blends emotional connection with supportive challenge. Together we work to understand the patterns that are keeping you stuck, while also helping you develop a calmer, more grounded internal state from which change becomes possible. I draw primarily on Intensive Short-Term Dynamic Psychotherapy (ISTDP), an effective, evidence-based approach that focuses on the emotional and relational processes unfolding in the moment. ISTDP helps uncover the patterns that once protected us but now limit our relationships, confidence, and wellbeing.
Alongside ISTDP, I integrate elements of Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), helping you cultivate a kinder, more accepting relationship with yourself while making meaningful changes in your life. My aim is to offer therapy that is warm, honest and gently challenging, supporting you to move forward with greater understanding and self-compassion.
Training, qualifications & experience
I have been working with adults with a range of life challenges and mental health difficulties for twenty years, across the NHS, third sector and private sector.
I hold a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology and am registered with the HCPC. As a Clinical Psychologist I bring a breadth and depth of understanding of the patterns that can contribute to psychological and emotional difficulty, and an evidence-based approach to assessment and therapy. Post-qualifying I completed a 3 year, ISTDP-UK Accredited training in ISTDP, alongside training in a range of other therapies including MBT (Mentalisation-Based Treatment) CFT and ACT.
