About me

I am a Clinical Psychologist specialising in offering compassionate, focussed psychotherapy. Psychotherapy can make a huge difference to the way we experience ourselves and our relationships. I offer a warm and supportive space in which you are able to explore patterns in your life, inner conflicts, your values, and the changes you want to make.

When life gets hard we can find ourselves revisiting old patterns in how we treat ourselves and other people. Perhaps we reach for unhelpful ways to cope or end up feeling ashamed and stuck. Working together we will agree a focus on what is troubling you and make room for the experiences, thoughts and feelings that you would like to explore and the patterns that you would like to change.

You may be looking for sessions to address a specific problem such as depression, anxiety, or addiction; or to explore the patterns that you get into in your relationships with others and yourself; or because there has been great change or loss in your life and you are wondering how you can move forward.

The core therapeutic model I use is Intensive Short-Term Dynamic Psychotherapy (ISTDP).  ISTDP is a compassionate and empowering form of psychodynamic psychotherapy.  I also practice Compassion Focussed Therapy (CFT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT).

Training, qualifications & experience

I have been working with adults with a range of life challenges and mental health difficulties for over fifteen years, across the NHS, third sector and private sector.

I have a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology and am registered with the HCPC. Post-qualifying I completed a 3 year, ISTDP-UK Accredited training in ISTDP, alongside training in a range of other therapies including MBT (Mentalisation-Based Treatment) CFT and ACT.

To find out more about whether my approach may fit for you please contact me to arrange an initial appointment or a free 15 minute conversation.

Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC)

The HCPC are an independent, UK-wide health regulator. They set standards of professional training, performance and conduct for 16 professions.

They keep a register of health professionals who meet their standards, and they take action if registered health professionals fall below those standards. They were created by a piece of legislation called the Health Professions Order 2001.

Registration means that a health professional meets national standards for their professional training, performance and conduct.
