About me
A space to reflect, understand and move forward.
Sometimes life can quietly become heavier than it used to be.
Perhaps your mind won't switch off. Maybe you're overthinking situations, feeling emotionally exhausted, struggling with relationships, carrying pressure from work, or simply recognising that life doesn't feel quite how you'd like it to.
Many people who contact me describe feeling stuck in patterns they can't quite explain.
From the outside, they often appear thoughtful, capable and resilient. Yet privately, they may be feeling overwhelmed, disconnected from themselves or uncertain about what comes next.
If any of that resonates, you're not alone.
Hi, I'm Andrew (Andy).
I'm an Integrative / pluralistic Counsellor, Psychotherapist and a Clinical Solution-Focused Hypnotherapist based in Upper Heyford, near Bicester, Oxfordshire (OX25), offering in-person, online and Walk & Talk Therapy sessions.
I offer a free 15-minute introductory call before booking an Initial Consultation.
This provides an opportunity to briefly discuss what has brought you here, ask any initial questions and explore whether working together feels like the right fit, with no pressure or obligation. If it feels right, you can then book an Initial Consultation directly via my website.
Before becoming a therapist, I spent more than 20 years + working in senior HR, talent acquisition, leadership and business roles. I've worked within large organisations, ambitious start-ups and fast-growing businesses, founded and ran my own HR consultancy, owned a recruitment agency and supported leaders, founders and teams through periods of growth, uncertainty and organisational change.
Today, as a counsellor, psychotherapist and Clinical Solution-Focused Hypnotherapist, I bring together both therapeutic expertise and extensive real-world experience to offer a thoughtful, grounded and human approach to supporting people through life's challenges.
Reflect • Understand • Move Forward
This simple framework sits at the heart of how I work.
Reflect
Create space to slow down, talk openly and explore your experiences, emotions, relationships and challenges.
Understand
Develop deeper insight into recurring patterns, thoughts, behaviours, beliefs and ways of relating that may be influencing your life.
Move Forward
Identify practical ways of creating meaningful change and move forwards with greater confidence, clarity and self-understanding.
A tailored approach to therapy
I work in an integrative and pluralistic way, which means I don't believe everybody benefits from exactly the same type of therapy.
People arrive with different experiences, personalities, goals and preferences, so rather than expecting you to fit a particular model, I tailor therapy to the individual sitting in front of me.
My work is grounded in Person-Centred principles, placing the therapeutic relationship at the heart of our work together. Alongside this, I may draw upon approaches such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Psychodynamic Therapy, Solution-Focused approaches, mindfulness and, where appropriate and agreed, Solution-Focused Hypnotherapy.
These approaches help inform our work together, creating a therapeutic experience that feels collaborative, flexible and relevant to your individual needs.
I regularly support people experiencing:
- Anxiety, high-functioning anxiety, worry and overthinking
- Stress, burnout, emotional exhaustion and difficulty switching off
- Confidence, low self-worth and self-criticism
- Perfectionism, imposter syndrome and fear of getting things wrong
- Obsessive thinking, repetitive reassurance seeking and unhelpful thought patterns
- Relationship difficulties
- People-pleasing and boundary setting
- Grief, loss and bereavement
- Workplace stress, work-related stress and career challenges
- Life transitions and uncertainty
- Navigating transitions into university, further education, work and early adulthood
- Identity, purpose and self-discovery
- Feeling stuck despite outward success
- LGBTQ+ experiences
- The lasting impact of difficult life experiences and mild trauma experiences
Walk & Talk Therapy
Alongside traditional face-to-face and online counselling sessions, I also offer Walk & Talk Therapy. Some people find it easier to open up whilst walking side-by-side rather than sitting in a therapy room, whilst also benefiting from movement, fresh air and being outdoors.
I offer sessions from my private therapy room in Upper Heyford, nr Bicester, Oxfordshire, (OX25) online throughout the UK and internationally and outdoors where appropriate and agreed.

How I Work
I work in an integrative and pluralistic way.
This simply means I don't believe everybody benefits from exactly the same type of therapy. People arrive with different experiences, personalities, goals and preferences, so rather than expecting you to fit a particular model, I tailor therapy to the individual sitting in front of me.
My work is grounded in Person-Centred principles, placing the therapeutic relationship at the heart of our work together and creating a safe, collaborative and non-judgemental space to explore your experiences.

- Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)
- Psychodynamic Therapy
- Gestalt Therapy
- Transactional Analysis (TA)
- Solution-Focused approaches
- Mindfulness
- Solution-Focused Hypnotherapy, where appropriate and agreed.
These approaches help inform my understanding of your experiences, relationships, emotions, behaviours and patterns, rather than being delivered as standalone therapies in themselves.
The aim is not to fit you into a particular therapeutic model, but to create a therapeutic experience that feels collaborative, tailored and relevant to your individual needs.

Young Adults Counselling, Sixth Form & University Transitions
Many young adults experience increased anxiety, overthinking, social anxiety, low confidence and uncertainty during periods of transition.
The transition from sixth form into university, further education, apprenticeships or the workplace can be exciting, but it can also feel overwhelming.
For many young adults, this is often the first time they're navigating increased independence, changing friendships, new environments, academic pressure, uncertainty about the future and greater responsibility for themselves.
I also recognise that this period of transition can be difficult for parents, who may be watching their child navigate significant life changes whilst adjusting to a new stage of family life themselves.
Areas I may support with include:
- Exam stress and academic pressure
- Anxiety and overthinking
- Confidence and self-esteem

Perfectionism and fear of getting things wrong - Feeling overwhelmed by change

Compulsive Behaviours
I can support some of the emotional, behavioural and relational factors that may accompany compulsive behaviours.
This may include:
- Excessive pornography use
- Obsessive thinking
- Repetitive reassurance seeking
- Unhelpful coping patterns
- Habitual behaviours linked to anxiety or avoidance
- Becoming hyper-focused on particular worries or concerns
- Overthinking that begins to interfere with day-to-day life.
Whilst I can support the wider emotional impact these experiences may have, I am not an addiction specialist and may recommend additional specialist support where appropriate.

Further information
Additionally, many people who contact me don't necessarily identify with a specific diagnosis. Instead, they often describe themselves as thoughtful, capable and self-aware individuals who have reached a point where overthinking, stress, emotional exhaustion, obsessive thinking or life pressures have simply become too much to carry alone.
I work with adults from all walks of life and am based in Upper Heyford, nr Bicester, Oxfordshire (OX25) and online throughout the UK, and regularly support professionals, senior leaders, managers, business owners, emergency services, men and LGBTQ+ clients.
However, you do not need to fit into any particular category to benefit from therapy.
My aim is to provide a calm, approachable and collaborative experience where you can talk openly, gain a deeper understanding of yourself and create meaningful, sustainable change at a pace that feels right for you.
I understand that finding the right therapist is important, which is why I offer a free 15-minute introductory call before committing to an Initial Consultation.
