My core theoretical approach is Humanistic and Gestalt.
I also have experience of comparative approaches and utilise these within my practice dependent on need.

I have received training in specific client groups such as young people, mental health issues, disability, loss and grief and sexual and domestic abuse.

I feel it is important to continue to develop my professional experience and skills and I make use of further training opportunities to achieve this.

My clients needs are at the centre of the way in which I work and I provide an adaptable and flexible approach to my practice. I am able to work on a short term or long term basis dependent on individual needs.

Until recently I provided counselling within the voluntary sector with a charitable organisation in Winchester working with young people in the 11- 25 age range. This included working as a counsellor at a secondary school. I was also able to adapt my practice here utilising walk and talk therapy with young people.

I have also provided counselling to students within a higher education establishment, working as part of a wellbeing team.

Iam experienced and comfortable in working in an online capacity having qualified as an online counsellor in 2012 and worked extensively in this way since then. This has included setting up the Online Counselling Service whilst working at University of Winchester.

Member organisations

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
