About me
Hello, my name is Amy Skarratts. I am a CBT and Person Centred Counsellor.
As an experienced counsellor, I understand the magnitude of taking that first step to seek help, I provide a safe relational environment where a client can release at their own pace and level of willingness to speak. I am a very friendly Counsellor, and I am able to put YOU at ease to get the most out of YOUR sessions from the start.
I specialise working with ladies who suffer with low self-esteem and confidence, inparticular ladies going through a hard time after a life changing event such as a break up, a family death, a trauma or having a baby. Having personal experience of these and the effects it can have. Sometimes it is just nice to have someone who isn't family or a friend to talk to. YOU ARE NOT ALONE.
I also work with lots of males who struggle with self esteem issues, and relationship problems where they feel they aren't getting heard in the home environment, we can work out ways together to improve YOUR LIFE.
Is your child struggling? I have many years experience working with children, and young people - do you feel like you aren't getting nowhere yourself trying to understand what is going on? I am fully DBS checked and have specialist ways of encouraging your young person to engage. I have worked in Primary schools, High Schools and with children with SEN.
I am a member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and adhere to their ethical framework. I attend monthly counselling supervision and actively participate in Continuous Professional Development to ensure my practice is up to date.
I offer a free initial telephone or online consultation to ensure we are compatible to work together, and to give YOU an opportunity to ask any questions.
Thank you for viewing my profile, and remember making the FIRST step is always the hardest.
If you have any questions please drop me a message :)

Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).
Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.
Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.
All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
