About me

Life can be confusing at times. Relationships, work, world events; so much is out of our control. Even our own feelings, thoughts and behaviours may seem difficult to understand and have agency over. Counselling provides the time and space to fully understand your experience, change outdated coping strategies and develop healthy self support.

I am a qualified Counsellor & registered member of the British Association of Counsellors & Psychotherapists with over 7 years of therapeutic experience & many more years working in community, mental health and educational settings. I am a Humanistic Counsellor, which means I believe in your innate ability to heal. My job is to provide the understanding, curiosity and support for you to harness your strengths and resources to meet life's challenges.

I draw on a variety of therapeutic skills and practices to suit you as an individual. This could involve unpicking relationship dynamics, increasing self-understanding and compassion, developing emotional regulation, creative exercises to understand something when there are no words or using a CBT or solution-focused approach to challenge unhelpful thoughts and behaviours. I will be working hard to provide the right conditions for your healing, connection and growth.

Training, qualifications & experience

My Diploma in Humanistic Integrative Counselling covered Gestalt, Transactional Analysis & Person Centred Therapy. Other certificates & trainings which I integrate into my practice are CBT, Solution Focused Approach & Creative Therapy.

My professional experience & interests are:

  • anxiety
  • low self-esteem
  • depression
  • loss & bereavement
  • life crises
  • stress & work-related issues
  • Autism & co-occurring mental health issues
  • relationship & family issues
  • life-limiting illness

If your concern is not mentioned here, please get in touch to see if I can help.

I have worked for over 7 years as a Counsellor in private practice & low-cost services working with the general public. I have also had 2 years experience counselling in hospices supporting bereaved family members & patients. Previous to qualifying as a Counsellor in 2019, I worked in the community & education supporting Autistic people, those with chronic illness, life limiting & mental health conditions, long-term unemployed, those with sensory impairment, learning difficulties, care leavers & disadvantaged young people.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
