About me

My name is Amy Paddock-Howell, and I am a person-centred counsellor offering nationwide online therapy through my service ‘Balance Therapy’.

I have over a decade of experience working with mental health and I currently work for a charity providing mental health crisis services.

I am a member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and therefore beholden to its ethical framework

Within the person-centred counselling ethos I believe that people are always trying their best to grow and develop. I view the client as a whole and take into account what that person needs at the time. I can gently encourage the client to lead their own therapy and explore what they need to. This could be looking at reconnecting with uncomfortable emotions, managing addiction, understanding and managing anxiety or depression, building resilience and self-esteem or helping you develop a better understanding of who you are and why.

If you are needing support navigating difficult life events, like bereavement, a trauma or relationship breakdown then I would be happy to help you by giving you a space to talk and be heard.

I will always provide a safe, warm, empathic, honest and non-judgemental space to explore what you need.

I also specialise in working with disordered eating using Specialist Supportive Clinical Management. I provide a gentle, collaborative and informative approach on managing risk, nutrition, body image work and emotional distress.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
