About me

Hey, I’m Amy. I’m a pluralistic counsellor and psychotherapist based in Glasgow. My approach to therapy is uniquely tailored to you, drawing on different therapeutic approaches to support you in reaching your personal goals and finding meaningful change. My practice Aurora Psychotherapy is grounded in the values of authenticity, collaboration, safety, empowerment, and respect for your autonomy.

Pluralistic Counselling

As a pluralistic counsellor, I blend different techniques tailored to your unique needs. Every counselling journey is different, which is why I draw from diverse therapeutic techniques to create a personalised approach. Rather than using a one-size-fits-all method, I combine evidence-based strategies to suit each individual client.

For me, it's a privilege to be present with someone in the counselling room and being on that journey with them. Together we’ll discover what works best for you, creating sessions that empower you to make meaningful changes and navigate your challenges. Our collaborative approach allows us to adjust and refine our work as your needs evolve.

My practice is called “Aurora Psychotherapy” which is inspired by the Aurora Borealis, a natural display of light in the night sky, which I believe represents hope, clarity and transformation that can emerge even from the darkest of times.

Free Initial Consultation

Finding a therapist can be really daunting, time consuming, and difficult to find someone who feels "right" for you. If you are nervous reaching out for support - that is OK. For that reason, I offer a free 20-minute initial consultation online. This session helps me to get a sense of what you hope for from therapy, as well as giving you opportunity to ask questions and get a sense of me, and if I am someone you would like to work with.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
