About me
My intention is for you to feel truly heard and understood. I offer counselling for self-growth as well as when facing difficult experiences. With gentle and skilled support, I help you tell your story while learning to reflect honestly on yourself, explore patterns and face fears to enable you to find new ways of looking at and doing things. Using a person-centred approach that provides a safe and non-judgemental space to grow, I support you to develop self-esteem, confidence and self-awareness, feel stronger and gain greater insights to become increasingly autonomous, able to make choices and secure in the decisions you make. My aim is to help you discover positive ways of moving forward.
Person-centred counselling is based on the belief that every individual has the capacity for growth. It is not directed by the counsellor, but led by you. It places you at the heart of our work, enabling you to decide what you want to talk about in counselling and recognising and valuing what you bring to sessions and already understand and know about yourself, building on that to help you discover more. If you wish to find out more about this approach, you can read about it at https://www.counselling-directory.org.uk/person-centred-therapy.html.
I offer a warm and non-judgemental listening space where it feels safe to explore challenging feelings, thoughts and ideas that may feel confusing or overwhelming or that may have felt too frightening to talk about before. My wish for you is that, with support, you will find ways to unravel these, as we build a therapeutic relationship built on trust and respect.
Above all, I believe each client is a unique individual with unique experiences and so I work with you, the whole person, how you personally respond to those experiences and at the pace that works for you.
You are welcome to contact me so that we can arrange a free 30 minute telephone appointment to chat about your needs and your hopes for what you would like to gain from counselling.

Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Further information
During my career as a counsellor, I have set up a new counselling service in an FE college and worked as the Counselling Co-ordinator for 6 years, supporting a team of counsellors and holding a caseload of young people and mature students. Following that, for 5 years, I was the Manager of a counselling agency which I established for a local charity, working with adult clients from the community and leading a team of trainee counsellors.
Alongside these roles, I have worked in private practice for several years and currently offer counselling to adults and supervision to counsellors, both face to face and on zoom. Throughout my career, I have worked with clients who have brought a wide range of issues and am experienced in working with clients who are coping with challenging and complex difficulties. I welcome clients who are trying to manage and understand grief, anxiety, depression, self-doubt, sexuality, self-harm, suicidal thoughts, neurodivergence, eating-disorders, low self-esteem, relationship issues, trauma, isolation, overwhelm and feelings of being lost and confused.
