About me

Anxiety isn’t always loud or obvious. Sometimes it’s the late-night replay of conversations, wondering if you said the wrong thing. It's the constant anticipation of what could go wrong, the overthinking that leaves you exhausted but unable to switch off.

It can show up in unexpected ways - driving could feel terrifying, toilet anxiety triggering panic, or you can’t bear the thought of being away from your home or ‘safe’ person. You know it doesn’t entirely make sense, and yet it still feels so real. It's confusing and frustrating, especially when you don’t understand where it’s come from or why it’s happening now.

Maybe your anxiety wraps itself around your relationships. You second-guess everything, worry you're too much, and find yourself overanalysing texts or silences. You fear people pulling away, even when nothing seems wrong on the surface. Deep down, you might carry guilt for needing reassurance or feel ashamed for caring so much.

Anxiety can go hand-in-hand with people-pleasing - always putting others first, struggling to say no, and feeling responsible for how everyone else feels. You might not even realise how often you dismiss your own needs or silence your own discomfort to avoid conflict or keep the peace.

Somewhere along the way, it’s like you lost touch with your own sense of safety and self-trust. Confidence takes a hit. You doubt your feelings, your worth, your instincts. It’s exhausting.

But you’re not broken for feeling this way... And you don’t have to keep carrying it alone.

Couple/Relationship therapy

Relationships can feel heavy when the same arguments keep looping, when communication breaks down, or when you’re feeling distant, misunderstood, or stuck. You might still care deeply about each other but something isn’t working in the way it used to, and you’re not sure how to talk about it without things escalating or shutting down.

Relationship therapy isn’t about deciding who’s right or wrong. It’s about creating space to explore what’s happening beneath the surface... together.

How I can help

Therapy with me is down-to-earth, warm, and conversational. I believe in being real - no clinical coldness or sitting in awkward silence.  It’s a conversation - we’ll laugh sometimes too, we might swear and we will try to be honest about what’s going on.

I know therapy can feel daunting, but you don’t have to have all the answers before you start. It might not be clear to you right now what you want.

I work integratively, which simply means I draw from different approaches depending on what you need. Whether you’re struggling with anxiety, people-pleasing, low self-esteem, relationship worries, or setting boundaries - our sessions are about exploring what’s going on beneath the surface and helping you reconnect with your own voice, needs, and confidence.

You deserve support that feels safe and human. Let’s figure it out together.

It might be helpful to know that I have special interests in anxiety, confidence, relationship issues and family dynamics.

The logistics

I offer online therapy across the UK and in-person sessions in Rayleigh, Essex. I know life is busy, so I use an online booking system that lets you pick times that actually work for you - no rigid ‘same time, same day’ pressure if that doesn't fit your life.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

*Please check your junk mail if you are waiting on a response to your enquiry from me via email - notably hotmail addresses tend to register as spam*

I also have an Instagram community, @balance_my_mood.  You can join me there for a little extra encouragement on setting boundaries, ditching the guilt, building self-worth and escaping the overload.

If you thinking about working with me online and are unsure on whether online counselling is for you, I’ve written a blog on whether online counselling is right for you which you can find on my website.

For online sessions, you will need access to a good internet connection and a device that has a camera; this could be a computer, tablet or phone. For telephone counselling you will need to be in a good signal area. Having a private space to talk from is important and I suggest that headphones could be helpful.

I would usually meet clients on a weekly basis but less regular is also an option; together we can weigh up the pro's and con's. I find people often want the flexibility of not always meeting on the same day and time each week which I can accommodate - I use an online booking system which enables you to pick a day and time that suits you.
