About me
Hi, I’m Amita - a qualified psychotherapist. I work with individuals and couples navigating the pressures of modern life.
About you
You might seem like you’re coping day-to-day going to work, replying to messages, getting things done, going out, meeting friends, posting on socials, acting like everything’s fine, but inside you feel on edge, flat, stuck in your head, or quietly exhausted.
Maybe you’re carrying a lot inside, even when nothing looks obviously wrong from the outside.
Perhaps you’re navigating the everyday realities that come with millennial life and, for some, the added layer of culture and everything that comes with it, whether as an individual or within a couple.
If this sounds familiar, we can look more closely at what’s really going on, to notice what’s working, what isn’t, and what keeps repeating.
Many of the people I work with are used to holding things together, while feeling caught in the same internal loops.
What might be going on
You might still be showing up and getting on with things, even while you feel:
- Anxious, low in mood, or overwhelmed.
- Your mind feels busy, with racing thoughts that are hard to switch off.
- Tired of overthinking and feeling stressed, and you keep wondering why things don’t feel better yet.
- Navigating work, relationships, or life changes and feeling weighed down by daily demands.
If this feels familiar, it may be that your usual ways of coping aren’t helping anymore. In our work together, we look at what’s been keeping you stuck, gently explore what’s going on underneath, and develop practical tools you can use.
Therapy can help you make sense of what’s been building up, understand patterns from the past and present, gain clarity about yourself and your life, and move forward with a clearer sense of direction, feeling more like yourself again.
What we will focus on
- Understanding what’s driving your anxiety, overthinking or low mood.
- Learning how to quiet racing thoughts and stop second guessing yourself.
- Making sense of what keeps pulling you back into the same place.
- Building confidence in your decisions.
- Navigating career pressure, relationships and life transitions.
- Finding more direction about who you are and what you want moving forward.
- Developing practical ways to handle what life brings.
We will be working with both your challenges and your goals.
My approach
There isn’t one set way I work.
- Person-centred and relational work, focused on how we work together.
- Psychodynamic and existential therapy, exploring past and present experiences and meaning.
- Somatic mind–body and neuroscience-informed work, focused on how they interact.
- Goal-based methods such as CBT and ACT.
This helps us focus on what matters, while also understanding how past and present experiences may be shaping how things are for you now.
What this can involve:
- Taking a closer look at what's going on.
- Paying attention to thoughts, emotions, and symptoms.
- Noticing how responses show up physically and emotionally, including the nervous system.
- Making sense of what’s going on through psychoeducation.
- Using CBT with anxiety and overthinking.
- Using ACT to help you move forward.
This may include patterns that keep you feeling stuck, coping strategies that no longer feel helpful, and tools you can use beyond therapy.
Our work together is collaborative. I’m actively involved, offering reflection, insight in a way that feels easy to talk in and allows you to be yourself even when things feel messy or unclear.
The aim is to help you gain insight, understanding and a clearer sense of direction in everyday life, so you feel more like yourself.
You’ll always leave sessions with something useful to take into your week.
A bit more about me
I’m not the typical therapist. I’ve been on my own therapy journey, including moving through my own mid-20s questions and transitions. Sessions often include honesty, tears, moments of laughter, and speaking freely, all held in a space that feels supportive and easy to be yourself in.
When I’m not in the therapy room, you’ll usually find me out walking my dog Miso (yes, I love Japanese food), with a coffee in hand, or listening to a podcast. I value the small, everyday things that help us reset, settle the nervous system, and feel more like ourselves again.

Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
