About me

Hello,I am a qualified integrative counsellor providing support to individuals who may be having difficulties with relationships, self esteem, loss, anxiety, depression, addiction, abuse and many other issues. There are times in our life when we feel a little lost and feel stuck in a situation which seems impossible to go forward from. You may find that with the support of counselling you are empowered to make changes and have a better understanding of yourself in the process. I understand how difficult and sometimes frightening it can be when making the decision to seek counselling, so by reading my profile you have taken your first step forward.

Integrative Counselling means I use different therapeutic techniques to work holistically with you by listening to what you have to say and building a trusting therapeutic relationship. The therapy is led by you so you are able to bring to the sessions what you would like to explore. I can offer you empathy in a warm, safe non-judgmental and confidential environment, giving you the time and space to explore and work through past and presenting issues.

My therapeutic approach is about building the relationship using the three core conditions Empathy, Congruence and Unconditional Positive Regard. I use a person centred approach with clients when we are working in the here and now. I use a Psychodynamic approach when clients need to explore their past to unlock their core beliefs around their patterns of behaviour this helps the client to have a better understanding of their pattern of relating. Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) can help clients manage  difficulties by changing the way they think and behave.

Training, qualifications & experience

My counselling experience consists of providing counselling support at a bereavement agency for parents/carers following the loss of a child. I have also provided counselling support at a centre for women who have suffered from Domestic Violence, Low Self Esteem and Mental Health difficulties. I have volunteered as a counsellor at a Carers organisation supporting people who are carers and the issues which arise from this. I previously offered wellbeing support in schools to young people within my role as a family support advisor.. I have worked within a counselling agency supporting children and young people experiencing depression anxiety and stress. I have also supported parents within this process offering parenting advice and support. I have delivered training to schools and organisations on how to support and develop positive mental health for young people.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
