About me
Welcome - I’m Amanda, a psychotherapeutic counsellor based in North Cornwall.
Reaching out for support can feel daunting. We often avoid our deepest fears and painful experiences, even when they continue to affect our daily lives. If you’re noticing emotional or behavioural patterns that are impacting your relationships, wellbeing, or sense of self, therapy can offer a space to explore and shift what no longer serves you.
At the heart of my practice is a person-centred approach. Every individual is unique - and so is every session. Once I have an understanding of your needs, I draw on a range of theories and experience to support you in working towards the changes you want to make.
We’ll work collaboratively to gently explore your thoughts and feelings, whether they relate to past or present issues. My focus is on understanding your experiences from your perspective, without judgment or agenda. Together, we can work towards healing, clarity, and confidence - not just for short-term relief, but to support meaningful and lasting change.
My experience includes work in the NHS primary care sector, voluntary work for a local counselling service supporting clients of different ages and genders and working with survivors of domestic abuse and sexual violence. These experiences continue to inform and deepen my practice. I also bring the insight of someone who has personally experienced the transformative power of therapy. This has shown me how vital compassion, connection, and acceptance are in fostering personal growth - and why I believe the therapeutic relationship is central to the effectiveness of counselling.
Sessions are offered in person in Wadebridge, or online or by telephone, whichever feels right for you. However we meet, you'll be welcomed with warmth and respect.
Finding the right therapist is important. If you’d like to see whether we’re a good fit, I offer a free 20-minute consultation. Please feel free to get in touch.

Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
