About me
Welcome, my name is Allene and I am here to offer you what I hope can be a warm, validating and encouraging therapeutic relationship where change, healing and growth can occur for you.
I am an accredited CBT therapist (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy) and EMDR Practitioner (Eye Mobilisation & Desensitisation Reprocessing) with a Masters degree in Integrative Counselling Studies and i have a wealth of experience gained in over 25 years in therapy, working with trauma in such areas as domestic violence, rape and childhood sexual abuse and I also have special interest in working with adults who have been diagnosed or believe they may have ADHD and /or Autism and its many common associated conditions including anxiety, social anxiety, depression and PTSD (post traumatic stress disorder)
About Me:
I have a wealth of experience working with a broad range of mental health challenges, especially trauma. I enjoy working with neurodivergent clients, as I support them in living happier and more fulfilled lives. Anxiety, depression, over eating and low self esteem are common associated issues that we can work on together, as you find your place within the neurodivergent community. I also find working with those who experience emotional dysregulation rewarding, those that are coping with the repercussions of childhood trauma or relationship breakdowns but whatever the challenges you are currently facing please get in touch and we can arrange a short introductory call and you can decide if working with me is something you believe you will be comfortable with.
What I do:
Every client is a unique individual and before therapy 'proper' begins we would do a full assessment together to understand what you are looking for in therapy and how we could best work together. If you have a diagnosis of Autism and/or ADHD and type, then this gives me a wealth of information from the start but i work with un-diagnosed clients and those questioning. We can also explore whether a formal diagnosis is something you wish to pursue and discuss the options regarding medications (I am not able to prescribe medications or give a formal diagnosis of ADHD)
I also offer EMDR which is a recommended NHS, NICE guidelines based treatment for PTSD and other mental health disorders, specifically anxiety based. Clients with ADHD often have trauma and traumatic stress in their past and it has been found that EMDR can successfully alleviate the negative symptoms of these childhood experiences.
Where do I Live:
I live in Scotland and currently only see clients online via Zoom. Once a session is booked I would send you the secure passcode for our meeting. Research regarding the efficacy of online therapy has proven it is just as productive as face to face and has many advantages in flexibility and ease of access. It can also be less stressful and require less organisation than travelling to a venue.
How to Make an Appointment:
Send me an email or a text giving your name and expressing your interest in making an appointment.
If you are a counsellor/psychotherapist either qualified or in training, I hold the COSCA Counselling Supervision certificate and offer counselling supervision.
I am also a Jungian Psychoanalytical SandPlay Therapist.

Training, qualifications & experience
I am a fully accredited CBT (cognitive behavioural therapy) therapist with a wealth of experience working with depression and anxiety disorders. I have made it my specialism to work with neurodivergent clients, either diagnosed or questioning and CBT has been shown to be very helpful in adapting and living a more fulfilled and happier life when it can be applied appropriately. There are many common associated conditions with ADHD, including anxiety, depression, low self esteem and PTSD and these can be successfully treated with therapy and / or medication. (I am unable to prescribe medication but can advise on it's usefulness and also how to procure an ADHD assessment if one is questioning the benifit of doing this) trauma and stress has been shown to be another common result of undiagnosed / diagnosed ADHD often resulting in PTSD forming from childhood experiences. EMDR therapy can be benificial in the treatment of trauma and is an NHS, NICE guideline recomended therapy for the treatment of PTSD.
